Going to go against the grain here a bit to say how much I hate Thursday night football (and midweek football in general) and the gradual encroachment of football all over the calendar. Much prefer football to remain on weekends/holidays.
I love football but I don't like the AFL's need to dominate literally every timeslot

So do we essentially only fly the squad of 25/26 out there to stay and train in Perth for the whole week

The rest of the squad trains and stays in Melb and plays vfl for that week

Logistically it will be annoying
It's the long weekend too, so from a supporters point of view can have a 3 day weekend in Perth, or at least time to get back and not be on a redeye flight.

I'd reckon it'll make sense for the squad to stay there for the week, and are there VFL byes that could be scheduled?

Overall, I'm just happy to have the increase form 7 to 9 home games, so I can use my reserved seats.

I don't mind tuning in if it's worthwhile, but I don't particularly want to go on a Thursday.

Agree - with kids Thurs night with school the next day is terrible. Even for them to stay up to watch it is not great.

yeah there are usually a ton of vfl byes

so yes hopefully they use their brains and schedule ours during that WA double

Looking forward to seeing it but based on our double ups it's looking pretty good.
  • Only trip to WA is a double header and hopefully the team can turn the experience into a positive.
  • No trip to Darwin

If we come out of this with no trip to Geelong we have improved our fixture plus banked some extra coin.. I hope we have the tiges in Rd 2, we need an early win.

l think the only team we play twice in WA will be the Weagles..Our 2 home games and then them at Optus Stadium later in the season..

I don't think I've ever watched a Thursday night H&A game - perhaps maybe 1 or 2 of the season openers when starved for footy. I don't care because we're not playing on them but I don't love them as a timeslot. Personally for me Saturday afternoon is #1, then Friday / Sat night. Then the rest. Then the abomination that is Sunday night.

Yeah. Friday/Saturday clearly the best two days.

Sunday a distant third.

Round 8 - May 1 - Essendon v North Melbourne (Marvel) - 7:30pm

Looks like l'll be watching it from home again just like last year... :sadv1:
Yep. I didn't miss a Melbourne game pretty much until COVID. But I'm done paying a huge money to support clubs like Essendon when our team can't even play 11 home games in Melbourne. They can FRO.

Seating also plays a bit part for us as my wife has trouble seeing players from great distances, so we dont sit on level 3 ..and as you said prices for seats are huge and why should we help the Bummers..
