How do they keep trading away picks to pick up WA juniors who are half backs and flankers, not mids?
Most of the top young Vic talent tell them they don’t want to go there.

That was the stuff being put out there after the 2022 and 2024 draft combine interviews.

Yeah figure so. I do think at some point you just have to pick them and back yourself to get it right. Better to pick the better player and at worst have to trade them for better value than picking WA talent that just isn't as good.

West Coast need their version of MVP Cam Rayner to break that go home cycle.

I know McCluggage and Berry changed the trend the year before for us but tying it to Cam gets more opposition supporters riled up so 2024 AA Squad member Cam Freaking Rayner gets the credit !

I don’t know why anyone would want to play for a WA team tbh. The 5hr flights ea way would get old quickly.

I havent spent a lot of time in WA but Perth seemed pretty good. Honestly I would take a WA team over Sydney, Adelaide and Hobart.

Even then there is a bunch of Melbourne based teams I dislike a bunch and wouldnt want to go to either.

West Coast with all their money and facilities would be high on the list to go to

True. I miss the great man, shame he couldn’t play that bit longer to taste the premiership success after being loyal for so many tough years.
I miss him as well. Very loyal in the lean years but someone had get a decent chunk of our salary cap.

Honestly, i respect it. Maybe there's a chance the club renews him for a 1 year deal at the end of the season, but given his injury issues, i would say that is less likely to happen at this point. He's probably aware of this, and wants to go all in to extend his AFL career and win a premiership. I really hope it works out because at his best, he's an instant starter in our team and it would be a fairytale to win the premiership with him in the squad given what he's been going through.

I don't think he's made an emotional decision. At his age he's rolling the dice and I'm sure he'll put everything into it.

We'd all love to see him back in 2025.

JUH signed until end of 2026. Cannot see how we could possibly manufacture a trade but geez if we could would 100% have him ahead of Allen.

Nope. Too much baggage currently. Allen first, Lewis next and JUH a distant third.

If Gallop steps up in the second half of this season, I'm happy to back him and not chase any of them. I'll save the money to re-sign/extend both Ashcroft boys.

Were you back to AFL level?

Real talk, hopefully this works out well for him. If not, we might have seen the last of him in our Guernsey...
I think he's doing it because without it he probably feels it might be the last we've seen of him anyway given the guys coming through now in overlapping positions with him, no football for two years, and his age. :(

Hopefully it works out for Linc. He is the sort of guy that could be a great impact sub to come in late in the year. But even looking at Docherty last year it was a mistake for him and the Blues. He clearly wasnt fit enough to come into a final like that.

Good on him for having a last crack, but hopefully he and the club are realistic about it

Linc is having the patella graft on his knee, this is the same one I had and it was good to go after 6 months

I had the patella graft too (age 28). I had the all clear for all sport within 6 months of the surgery, but a big factor in that was having little or no cartilage or meniscus damage. I wasn't playing footy, let alone at AFL level, but I played volleyball and basketball without any issues.

I hope it goes well for Linc.

Gettable
  • Dunkley a Tassie target
  • Lions one to watch for Leek Aleer
  • "Logan Morris one of the best draft picks over the last 3 years" - letting the season play out for a few weeks before gettng into contract discussions

Dunks very settled here, but would be the perfect captain for the Tasmanian team so see why they'd be keen.

Dunks will be 30+ by then but they'll need a mix of players, including big bodied capable veterans who have a ~3yr shelf life to help the kids develop and to not get continually reamed like GCS.

Aleer makes no sense to the Lions he's not a forward and we're pretty set for defenders
