Darcy Wilmot is a weapon. As a general defender, he rates above average in disposals, intercepts, metres gained and pressure, making him almost the perfect blend of attack and defence as a running half-back.

What a ride it was for Logan Morris in his first year. He chowed down on a BBQ Angus meal with six nuggets on the side and a frappé after a VFL match … then came in as a late replacement for his AFL debut a few hours later. He finished with two goals in a grand final, and a flag for good measure. Joe Daniher’s retirement creates greater opportunities for him.

With our future midfield just about set with Dunkley, Clug and Rayner around for another 5+ years, the Ashcroft brothers, Fletcher, Marshall and Annable coming on board, JUH would just about keep us in finals contention for another 8 or so years in conjunction with Hipwood, Lohmann & Morris up forward.

Andrews, Payne, Starcevich, Kiddy and Wilmot strong down back.

Genuinely feels as if we are a gun key forward aged 25 or under away from remaining in contention for the next decade. The issue is they are the hardest commodity to come by.

Reckon we might be trying to attract Mitch Lewis (coming off ACL) from Hawthorn instead long-term but we won't know what the club are thinking until later this year to have an understanding of who will partner Hipwood in the F50 especially if Day ends up having a better than expected season for us this year.

I would be shocked if our list management team did NOT seek the thoughts of Josh Dunkley, a current vice captain at the club, about the potential recruitment of any of his former team mates.

ive heard ugle-hagan is a bit of a sesh gremlin. not that this holds people back from becoming superstars (see buddy at hawthorn) but might make clubs wary if he continues to be a tease thats not fully reaching his potential.

Yes. While losing Starc is bad, he's more easily replaceable by, Answerth for example, than losing a key forward like Daniher who we don't really have a replacement for.

I don't think we'd be interested in JUH.

You wouldn't be surprised if a fully fit Day went well in our system given the volume and quality of supply he's been used to getting in the past. He seems a reasonable enough kick.

Obviously we'll be looking to 2026 and beyond . It's not really possible to replace the ball winning ability of Daniher around the ground and on the wings where he always provided a good contest.

Some of the Dogs people who follow them closely have doubts on certain aspects of his footy and his attitude. Which means he might be gettable. I suppose we wait and see what they offer him this year.

At what point to we point the finger at the coach and system and not individual players? Dogs off field has plenty of issues.
