By end of season Gallop will consign all this debate to the "Who needs JUH/Lewis/Allen" thread on this forum.

Gallop will still need a partner in crime. You're forgetting that Ty was so intimidating Hippy decided to move into the backline.

At what point to we point the finger at the coach and system and not individual players? Dogs off field has plenty of issues.
Well that's a good point. A few unhappy campers apparently. I guess he gets singled out a bit by supporters because they saw him as the answer to some of their problems and 4 years in he hasn't delivered what you'd hope from a No 1 pick. His numbers in '24 were reasonable enough for a young forward. They expected more. The fact that they've yet to lock him up makes you wonder.

Apart from how we rate him of all the younger forwards out there he would seem the most gettable right now.

Pretty much mirrors with Rayner's perception, before this year's finals performance.

For some reason there doesn't seem to be much discussion about JUH's contact on the Dogs board or on the Trading board, despite being mentioned a few times by the AFL website as a potential Lions target. Not sure why.

We do have depth to fall back on apart from CHF so who are these players and is it enough.
Clubs are required to bring in players from the draft. That ensures inexperience is always on your list.
That can be hit and miss but the last few years the Lions have had a good run and Annable next year.

I excluded Oscar (injury), Coleman (injury) Day, & Levi as i have them starting 23.

Midfield/Wing: Reville (AFL proven), Marshall, Torrent (untried), Robertson & Tunstill (biding time but can fill a gap).

Ruck: Fort, Smith (R/F).

Forward: McCarthy (injury), Gardiner (injury) (AFL proven), Lloyd, Gallop, McLachlan, Craven (untried), Ryan (fills a gap).

Defense: Answerth, McKenna, Joyce, Brain, Doedee (injury) (AFL proven), Beecken ZZ (untried).

It is happening.
From the article “Ugle-Hagan’s complicated situation is not new ground for the Dogs,”

Still have a suspicion that it might relate to the legal situation back in Framingham. It fits the definition of “complicated situation”. Well known Indigenous leader convicted of fraud. I have no idea how close this is to JUH’s direct family but it is a small tight community around Warrnambool.

Not sure if needing to get out of the “fishbowl” is the issue.

Hope the young bloke can work his way through it. Would be a pity if his talent is lost to the game.

There's very few scenarious where the media would be knowledgable about a star player missing pre-season and directly choosing not to specifically say what the situation is. Especially the more notable of 'pot-stirrer' media commentaters, like Sam McClure, not stating what the situation is. This would be one of those things.

Yep going back to back will be small comfort compared to the trade and draft period where the real winners win.
Indeed Sproj
Now that we no longer have Dodoro winning it every year for the past twenty, maybe we stand a chance.
