Zero sympathy for the Dees. If a player asks out - for family reasons no less - and you decide to keep them against their will then dont act surprised if they are disgruntled.

Had they tried and been unsuccessful in getting a reasonable deal thats one thing but they flat out refused.

You cant hold a player against their will and act surprised if it has a negative impact on said players morale.

And if he played the good soldier it would only embolden the Dees to do the same thing next offseason (hold him to contract).

They could have avoided this situation by donating Kozzie to the Flagmantle '25 movement. They did this to themselves
Dees are massively in debt to our own stupidity.
Pick 6, 7, 13 & 2 early second round picks, only Luke Jackson to show for it. Not including the horse trading of Junk picks, they can stay in the bin.
So can Jesse Hogan.
#kossiefor1xfirstroundpick

Probably wishful thinking but Warner could go the same way as McDonald if Erasmus or Johnson step up this year.
Here's hoping. I kinda think if we bring in Kozzie we've got the team to go all the way.
The weakness left in our team is Warner, Banfield & Fyfe.
The only guys left who I cringe when they get the ball as you just know, 50% of the time they will just burn it at an important time.

I was actually thinking that NOD could be that player. He has more of that initial burst speed.

None will ever be as good but NOD is a definite point of difference with a midfield of Serong/Brayshaw/Young.

Erasmus is more like Fyfe
Johnson is more like Mundy

They both need to be able to adapt to other roles like Wing (Johnson) and HFF (Erasmus). So far Johnson has adapted with more versatility and as such played more often the past two years.

This. Noddy is our Chad.

The way it could be seen as remotely achievable:

Out 2.4m per year
Player, Salary (estimate, low), years
Worner 300
Delean 250
O Mac 250
OMeara 400 + 400
Sonny 400
Banfield 300 +300
Aish 300
Fyfe 400
Brodie 300 + 300

Delist 2025 2.4m (+ 2026 1m)
(some conservative salaries)

2025
Out 2.4m
In 2.55m per year
Kosi 800
Chad 1m
3 x draft 750k
2.55m
Issues:
Kosi and Chad will likely want more based on the new TPP
Shuffle some deals
Brayshaw $ will be key and what we signed Bolton for.

2026
Out 1m
In 750k
3 x draft 750k (inc NGA)

Depth will be the potential issue if we cull experience for rookies, but:
DEF
Davies
Draper
Murphy

MID
Johnson
Ras
Simpson
Reid

FWD
Voss
Nicholls
Carr

RUCK
Reidy
Riddle

I know this is an estimate but since when did pick 60 in the ND get base salary of $250k.

Also $250k for an NGA Rookie can’t be right.

Aish would be on more than $300k. We dragged him across from Collingwood where he was well paid.

Damn, so is there a genuine possibility that we can end up with both Warner and Pickett? Or is that going to be too difficult to facilitate?

I think that considering both Pickett and Warner can and do play forward someone in our forward line would be coming out of the side.

Not you Treacy, not you Amiss, not you Jackson, not you Bolton, not you henchmen turning knobs.

Pick one or two of Sturt, Frederick, Switkowski, Banfield. I think they are all contracted beyond 2025. One or two won't make the best 22 for us but will elsewhere.

The absolute best outcome is that one of them explodes next season and kicks 50 goals, then requests a trade to Victoria.

So your “best outcome” is we trade a 50 goal a year forward so we can fit Kozzie in?

That should adequately detail the cost of getting both, yes.

If Banfield kicked 50 goals next year, and you had the ability now to green light that trade, it would feel different at the end of the season wouldn't it?

This side, it's seen as a fluke not to be repeated, end of the year it will seem like the new normal being given up.

So I just spoke to the guy who originally told me about Chad. Said it’s genuinely up in the air. Has no club preference, but flags are his number 1 priority considering he’s missed 2, and how competitive he is. However money obviously comes into it to a point.
💰 always wins.
