Yea, we’ve seen a free agent leave Freo. It was Chris Mayne eight years ago (nine by next year).

Many clubs were unhappy with the draft compensation given to StKilda this year and North Melbourne the year before (including Carlton and Collingwood) so for that reason alone I think the formula for draft compensation will be less waited towards teams losing a player this year.

Lol. Teams other than the team being compensated have always been unhappy with free agency compensation since the stupid system was put on place. Nothing will change.

I don’t think Brayshaw will leave at all and the fact that he didn’t sign at Christmas is not relevant. However I’d be mildly raising my eyebrows if he’s not signed by round 1.
That indicates at the very least he’s listening to offers (as he should by the way, it’s a professional sport after all).

If we are only offering him say, $1m a year and another club are offering him $1.5m, he’s got an obligation to stop, take his time and consider it fully with his partner and family.
We all would do the same if in that situation.

Freddy and Sturt too with Young and Serong rotating forward. Ive had a chance to watch a few replays including a few of the early games. Geez our kicking into the forward line was terrible early in the season and the last 4 games. Early on we missed Freddy on the lead so many times or he was ignored when free. Not only did we have Emmett and Banfield missing him but Walters and Brayshaw had the kicking yips. Late in the year our ball movement was slow and players like Sharp, Banfield, Chapman, Johnson, Fyfe and O'Meara were guilty of either holding onto the ball for too long or chosing the wrong option. With more precise ball movement and better kicking Freddy and Sturt shape as big improvers in 2025 particularly if they get through the preseason without injury. Freddy seems to be flying heading into the Christmas break.
