Look I can empathise with the club if this WA journo has gone early with the story before the details have been finalised and contracts signed. The club can't really announce anything or comment publicly until those things have occurred.

But... it does beg the question why the club didn't hold off from auto-renewing memberships for 2025 if they knew there was a deal brewing that would impact at least one cohort of members (Melbourne members? Tassie members? Seems at least one of these groups is getting screwed somehow in 2025).

They’ve been shitting on Melbourne based members for over a decade so its situation normal really.

Club needs to make a statement or send an email to all memebrs by COB today confirming number of games in Melbourne.

I fully expect we have moved two of the Tasmania games to WA. If its anything more than a 2/2 split between those two locations, that a serious blow to Melbourne based supporters.

We also need to confirm that 2025 will be the final year in Tasmania. Full stop.

Nothing will change for next year as North are contracted until the end of 2025.

Next years memberships will no doubt be adjusted to take into account the changes. People need to realize that in 2026 we will have 2 WA games which will nett us the same amount if not more of playing 4 games in Tassie, Talk is around $6 million so there might be a chance, however slim, that we may get the other 2 Tassie games back here in Melbourne as home games.

If not then we will be making more money by moving those 2 games to another state. eg Darwin, Cairns .

So our home games from 2026 will remain at 7 or increase to 9

Just remember we are entitled to 11 home game .....

The WA deal is supposedly beginning next year, so if that's accurate something has to be changing, by definition.

If it is to start next season then maybe the AFL will give us either:

an additional 2 extra home games

pay out the remainder of the Tassie deal back to the Tassie Government and only play 2 games there next season

or the other option which l am not an advocate of > Give us 2 extra reciprocal games.

They might also reduce the amount of away interstate games by 2 as well as making them home games and while giving us 13 in total if 2 go to WA and 4 stay in Tassie l think would be fair for us supporters but other clubs might complain.
