Bears are interviewing way too many people for head coaching job should be max 5 not the 15 they are likely to do.
They are doing it cause they are expecting a few to say they dont want to work with Poles. This is the type of bullshit you have to do when you want to keep a GM who should have been fired.

tomlin has a "no trade clause". Id have thought a head coach couldn't be traded without their agreement (which is effectively a no trade clause).

Gruden Belichick and Parcells all were traded but they all were for the move, it wasn't like trading a player
I guess that's what a no trade clause is.... Coach has to agree, in his contract, while some coaches may not have that so the GM/owner could feasibly trade them at their own discretion.

Why would you not cast a wide net? Even if half the interviews are just sham interviews where you want to gain intel on a particular team/coach/philosophy/scheme etc, it's worth it imo.

It's literally the only time your team can get insights into the operations of other teams legally.

Where I would agree with you, is that if they're casting such a wide net, given time constraints you would hope this doesn't dilute the overall quality of each interview.

It is fake, I don’t get that lucky 🍀
I mean all teams have analysts, but none have non-football person in charge and there's varying degrees to how they use it. Browns seem to be on the heavy use. But how on earth he still survives is a mystery (aside from rubbish owner)

It's just due diligence Imo in case some toughie surprises them

Yep - just like Mike Tomlin wowed the Steelers despite being a tick the box interview to satisfy the Rooney Rule.

There comes a point though that you can do too many. Other teams with a short list can sign someone youre interested in earlier coz youre ****ing around with the likes of David Shaw, Mike Kafka, Anthony Weaver and Drew Petzing.

I appreciate you finally getting on board.

What I have heard is he was instrumental in getting Haslam from going to federal pen on screwing truck drivers—and navigating the sale afterwards that made Jimmy a billionaire

He snaked his way into football ops after being kicked out by Dorsey (coinciding with good drafts)…once back after Dorsey got knifed—he made sure he would never ever lose control again

Shanahan (maybe) understanding he should not and can not do it all.

With the hunt for a new DC and STC is progress here ic hoping we get a more balanced coaching staff.

Definitely. No point interviewing the utmost of random candidates unless there is absolutely something specific you have in mind.

Wonder if any 2nd interviews will be in person and if the article will have shamed them into paying for the flights or use team jet like 31 other teams or they still make the candidate pay for flights

Agree and it also smacks of a team that doesn't know what they want in a HC and are doing the weddings, parties anything to cover all bases and fishing for ideas.

Are they simply being thorough ??? or its it indicative of indecision ????

As an employer when I was looking for key staff to join the team, I had two mantras when looking for prospective hires, as far as the position that needed filling:

I made sure I knew, "my stuff", as to what I wanted and expected from key appointees and what they needed to deliver on.

I expected the prospective candidates to know, "their stuff", as far as task concept, the knowledge required, clear ideas of how to implement their strategies and my expectations.

If you don't do both these properly, a successful fit is near impossible IMO.
