Pats wanna get their search wrapped up and name a coach asap according to Schefter. Seems like its Vrabel to me coz Johnson cant be hired til after the playoffs.

The thing is if you wait around and miss out then you have to settle, Jets have strong interest in Vrabel. Pats might have Johnson and Vrabel in the same tier and could potentially miss both if they wait for Johnson. Lock in the guy you can right now.

If Pats want Johnson and he wants the job, you're not missing out and have to settle for someone else. There'd be agreement in place.
Don't think Vrabel would choose Jets and vie against Pats whom he has a good relationship with, plus not as good an opportunity there given all the baggage, plus would've heard Belichick lambast the Jets for years.
Vrabel and Brady tho is a good connection if Pats choose Johnson.

I highly doubt they are making an agreement before a face to face interview and that wont happen for a few weeks yet with the Lions in the playoffs.

It's not just Tom Brady. This has been developing ever since they moved to Vegas. They have the best facilities of any team in the league, are in a state with no state income tax, and Mark Davis is willing to spend whatever it takes financially. The other person of influence is Egon Durban, who has more business connections than anyone could imagine.
Between Durban and Brady, Mark has found the right leaders. Now it comes down to whether a top candidate like Ben Johnson will buy in to their vision.
One thing I don't buy is that the AFC West being a tough division is a deterrent for top candidates. Ben Johnson is currently coaching in the best division in football the NFC North, it doesn't get tougher than that imo.
The Raiders are a better job than the average twitter hack thinks. Will be very interesting to see how this proceeds.
