He did a bit of running. From what I saw he didn't join in with the drills/match sim. I only saw him from a distance but he looked thin, like he'd lost some conditioning.
I wonder how sick he's been recently tbh.
The best teams at NOT going back to back
We often talk about the great dynasty teams etc which can get very boring as it’s obvious who they are My question is a little more nuanced - which teams are the best NOT to go back to back? Players who didn't partake
Lewis, Dear, Moore, Ryan, Frost, Blanck, Ginnivan, Watson, Sicily, Ward, Breust, Butler, Mraz
Standouts
Cam Mackenzie was absolutely exceptional. Made the most of every touch he got. Oozed class with his disposals. Had a few centre clearances and a wonderful goal assist to Dimma.
Hustwaite had 3 centre clearances and was clean with his disposal, especially by hand. He was fantastic for the yellow team.
Both Noodle and Meek had moments where they looked great. Noodle was winning taps over Meek, while Meek was trying to use his running to get the advantage away from the contest. An enthralling battle.
Speaking of Battle, his field kicking was superb. Hit a lovely 50m kick that hit Finn, who kicked inside for a goal.
Both Scaife and Ramsden took some marks as deep forwards and hit the scoreboard.
Croc kicked two goals and was lively around the contest.
Amon played half back and kicked a great goal from 50 metres into the wind.
Tom Barrass just knows what to do when defending. Little knock ons and taps away from defence. His kicking might end up being a great quality of our game plan - a few times he kicked to players free in the centre of the ground.
Daysy hasn't missed a step - was skillful and tough at the contest, excellent run and spread.
Harry Morrison turned up in the right spot time and time again. Be it with a tackle, a linking handball or a forward 50 entry.
CJ looked very good in the half back line - gave excellent run and bounce, but also made a few telling tackles.

It really does feel like we have a strong squad now, a lot of kids still becoming men but the core unit that will hit 25-30 aged bracket at the same time is perfect.
A fair few will not even want to wait till their 25 to realise it which is a sign we will be competitive in every game.
Going to be a very exciting year for so many different reasons.

I tend to agree with you but this is the time of year to try new things and playing 2 rucks could be something worth exploring. Last year we had a real deficiency in our offensive game plan at times, whereas we couldn't bring the ball to ground and allowed defenders to intercept mark, missing opportunities to gather ground balls. The fix during the finals was to swing Sicily forward to rectify and this might end up being the solution this year too but I'd say they are playing around with the idea of playing a ruck forward at times for this purpose.

I like your description of Harry turning up in the right spot, it’s his greatest strength he just knows where to go to get the ball.
It’s why I think he should get a decent crack at making a spot in the wing his own. He knows where to run which is the real art of being a winger and his disposal once he gets it is always top notch.

For someone his size he is pretty tough as well.
He will never be a powerful unit like Newk or an explosive runner like CJ but he knows how to play footy.

Is there a known schedule of match sims/practice matches with AFL umpires? I'm keen to get to at least one!
In regards to the 2 ruck idea. Natural progression of our list will mean that Chol will be that second ruck. We have a stacked backline which will mean some will have to move up the field so no room for both Meek and Reeves.
Great to see Mackenzie in ripping form. We lacked class in the midfield in our semi final loss if we can keep Day on the park and Cam can turn into an A grader our midfield is set

We definitely hate losing the big ones.
Why I’m confident we can go all the way this year. Think that Port prelim loss will motivate us…

To win a Premiership I reckon Lewis needs to be in the side and playing well.

Yes. If Daysy doesn’t go down and we had Frost fit I think we’d have given it a big shake last year even without Lewis. With the stacked backline allowing Hardwick and Sicily to float forward when/if needed we have enough strike power even without Lewis. A fit Lewis is just an unbelievably fortunate luxury we can maybe rely on this year.

I agree, the biggest thing that Semi Final loss showed was that we lacked one more genuine midfield star to match it with the likes of Port (obviously having Day out didn't help).
From all reports Mackenzie is killing it this pre season which is an excellent sign

Endurance is always such a big struggle for the Rugby lads when they try and play AFL. The constant movement in Aussie Rules is so different to the stop start nature of League
As you say he's a longer term prospect.
