NFL 2025 Offseason Player Discussion

I think Purdy is worth 45 mil. Happy to go to 50 mil if it stops Rodgers becoming a 49er not anymore thou.
I feel that if the Darnold deal has been done before negotiations began it would have been 40-45m. I think it will end up around 50m apy. Really it's the structure and guarantees that are the real numbers.

Old mate NFL Rumors saying the Cowboys and Browns have a trade for Dak Prescott in the works.... meanwhile Dak has a no trade clause on his contract (cant imagine him waiving it for Cleveland) and literally no one else of note is saying anything about it. Might be time to drop him from the following list.

Yeah i have them on my blocked list. They are just making up shit at this point.

This has to end the whole "he's a system QB" debate right? No way they pay him this kind of money unless they think he's bringing something special to the team.

Nah. I get the feeling he'll have that kind of knock on him unless he wins a Superbowl with a team of UDFA.

It's a pretty high bar to overcome, very few QBs outperform their "system" in today's game

I want ARod to go to the Steelers as just think it will add entertainment value. Nothing else.
Yep, Rodgers, Tomlin, Arthur, DK and Pickens. Should be good for a laff.

I just want Rodgers to be a Steelers so he can break another record.

Tomlin's consecutive winning season record that is.
I think Rodgers might be final thing needed to break the most useless record in all of sports. Who cares if you are above .500 if you don't make playoffs.

Good thing that they signed Diggs 😂 😂 😂

I know there isn't much content around, but the mental gymnastics on explanations for things teams are or aren't doing makes little sense

Getting Diggs was a really mediocre move. Coming off an ACL, signing at the vet minimum or a 1 year prove it contract would have been okay but what is it? $13mil per year for 3 years? Too much risk for me. Seems the pats want to go back to the clown years of the 70s

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports that “the Vikings haven’t closed the door on Aaron Rodgers.”
With her opening remarks, Russini succinctly stated that “it could happen.” Russini then outlined a hypothetical scenario in which Rodgers “hangs out, and the Minnesota Vikings pick up the phone” and ask him to join a quarterback competition. Internally, the Vikings have apparently maintained the view that “it would be a competition [for the starting quarterback job] this summer.” Russini also adds that “there is also a world where J.J. McCarthy shows up to OTAs and looks as sharp, and confident, and [as] ready to go as he saw him in training camp last year,” which, we are left to infer, would negate the need for a competitive veteran.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini believes the move to ban the tush push is “getting more momentum.”
The Packers made a proposal to ban the tush push earlier this offseason, but soon, teams will have a chance to vote on the rule change. The Eagles, Jalen Hurts, and his fantasy managers have all benefited from their signature play that became a mainstay in their offense in 2022. It’s possible the league will get the 24 votes needed to ban the play before the start of next season. The league considered a ban of the tush push last year, but fell well short of the votes needed to implement the change. We’ll see if things break differently this time around.

Statements like this belong in the multverse marvel canon over nfl signing musings.

Another step closer to the NFL using it. Anyone know how long it took to render, because when the NFL trialed it in preseason it would take like 1min or longer.

I know with Hawkeye technology they can mathematically answer the question faster than the graphics render. Not sure with the UFL tech on the time delays.

Isnt hawkeye predictive. UFL use chips in the ball and on the players so are always mapping movement. with the stadiums also 3D mapped so its not guessing/math problems its just show where the live data showed it to be. thats the tech but not sure how they program it for TV. its much like what the AFL has been working on with the chips in the balls.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Bills signed CB Christian Benford to a four-year, $76 million extension.
A sixth-round pick from Villanova in the 2022 NFL Draft, Benford finished the season with an 82.6 overall PPF grade (fifth among CBs). The 24-year-old cornerback played like a top-five player at the position and now he’ll be paid like one on a deal that will keep him in Buffalo through the 2029 season. Benford’s deal comes after extensions for EDGE Greg Rousseau, LB Terrel Bernard and WR Khalil Shakir as the Bills continue to lock up their core players this offseason.

Texans signed LB E.J. Speed to a one-year, $5 million contract.
The deal comes with a $1.75 million signing bonus, $1.5 million guaranteed, $1.5 million in playtime incentives, and a $500,000 Pro Bowl escalator. Speed set a career high in tackles in 2024 with 142, including seven tackles for loss and five pass break ups. He’ll bolster an aggressive Texans linebacking corps after spending the first six years of his NFL career with the Colts.

Ravens president Sashi Brown said “that the team won’t make a determination on kicker Justin Tucker’s future with the team until the NFL has finished its investigation.”
The Ravens are holding firm with the plans they outlined roughly one month ago. Tucker is being investigated for sexual misconduct allegations made by 16 women. The team has reportedly received “periodic updates” from the league, but the investigation is evidently still ongoing. Per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Eric DeCosta acknowledged that the team “is looking at kickers in the draft.”

Armando Salguero reports that Kirk Cousins hopes to be traded after the 2025 NFL Draft’s conclusion.
Cousins’ no-trade clause gives him the ability to at least partially determine his own future, and there appears to be wiggle room in his request. Although he would prefer to wait until the draft’s conclusion, he has reportedly made clear that a mid-draft trade, after Day 2 concludes, could be agreeable. Salguero lists the Steelers, Browns and even the Vikings, in a backup role, as possible landing spots.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports “any trade talks for Brandon Aiyuk would be off” if he remains on the 49ers roster by Tuesday, April 1.
Aiyuk is due a $22.85 million bonus from the Niners if he is still on their roster by April 1st. While he’s been the subject of trade rumors this offseason, the Niners would presumably keep Aiyuk on the roster for the 2025 season if they have to pay out his bonus for the season. Schefter reports that “no deal currently is expected” by April 1st, so we’ll see if anything develops over the next two days. The star receiver is rehabbing a torn ACL and MCL that he suffered in Week 7 last season and seems unlikely to be ready for the start of next season, which would only further complicate a trade.
