I wish him well and I hope his troubles are behind him, but I can’t say I’m clamouring to select him in my SC squad when he’s entering the PS with love handles

Looks as fat as mud, but that’s ok, it’ll only make his rise all the more glorious.

Last time I checked most piggies are meant to be fat.

Provisional 2025 Opening Team:

DEF: Clark, Newman, NWM, McKercher, Coleman, Rookiex3
MID: Petracca, Dawson, Oliver, Cerra, Sheldrick, Rookiex6
RUC: TDK, Darcy, Rookie
FWD: JHF, Rankine, B.Smith, Macrae, Phillipou, C. Daniel, Rookiex2

Prices calcuated as of last season avg*5500; no discounts applied. Have way overspent on rookies so should have plenty of room to manuever.

Tried to avoid early byes except in the cases of exceptional value; also tried to hit value picks over over-spending on starting picks.

Like it.....you don't have any premos with Rd 14,16 Bye, so assume you'll target them for upgrades when needed.

7/8 teams with those byes also have byes in the early rounds; Richmond being the exception, so yeah I'll probably target them after the early byes & perhaps start a few Richmond rookies.

I’ve had Xerri-Bomb and TDK does amazing things to my system locked and loaded at R1/R2 since the season ended.

However, as always, that big beautiful lump Hodor keeps looking at me funny.

Been burnt so many ****in times by that lumbering lummox, he is most certainly going to miss games, and LJ chopping him out could diminish his scoring capacity somewhat - but he’s got that nice bye and is sub $550k. Could always start him and wait for Xerri to drop I suppose.

I think it would take something pretty big to not start Marshall and English and my rucks. Definitely Marshall. Think they’ve got green flags everywhere besides Tim English every now and then forgetting how to play ruck.

Not that keen on Holler.

Yes, he did have an exceptional final 6 weeks, but he also sharted out another 6 scores under 85 which included a 50 and a 60.

Has that good bye though.

Breakfast has burnt me too many times and I am scarred by his exploits.

Freo game style will be ineresting. Will they go back to the chip chip style that helped Ryan and Clark early in the year or try go more direct?

cant imagine we will say a massive change to game plan from the back half of the year, as we were consistently in with a shot at most games. will probably still see the odd game where ryan racks up 35 touches though

TdK probably breaks down before then
And except for players on the never again list (cough Darcy cough), I've decided I'm not going to think about this next year. I tried to the past couple of years and still ended up on the ruck merry-go-round anyway.

DEF: Sheezel, Wanganeen-Milera, Short, Coleman, Schoenmaker, Rookie (Rookie, Rookie)
MID: Bontempelli, Serong, Young, Richards, Petracca, Rookie, Rookie, Rookie (Rookie, Rookie)
RUCK: Xerri, TDK (Rookie)
FWD: Horne-Francis, Macrae, Phillipou, Smith, Daniel, Lynch (Rookie, Rookie)

I quite like this as a starting point. I want Mills and Ashcroft but I'll wait for their byes and ideally get that done via a struggling premo + rookie if they look good (cash permitting) - think Ashcroft will be a non-negoitable. Rankine is the other I would really like to start with, but hard to see where he fits in that forward line. Main thing I don't like is 2x premimum mids from 2 separate teams, but it's hard to avoid with opening round.

Seems reasonably safe outside of Coleman and TDK though and we can't be having that, so I'll need to tear it all down and start again.

Early points are the key, we have enough trades to take a few risks.

Like it. I'm going to be similar I think. Maybe Butters over Bont. Short is an interesting one, Richmond are going to cop some floggings next year so if he's getting bulk kick in's he might be worth it :thumbsu:

100%. My plan is to chase early points and to make corrections using opening round players.

I feel like there will be plenty of chips for Short with Rioli gone. He was pretty average this year, but I'm not sure who else will steal his chips. Maybe Brown? In any case, he seems low risk (I can't see him losing value so he'll be easy to correct) and high reward.

Rioli only took 34 kick ins for the season last year.

Vlastuin is the limiting factor there.

I was more so thinking he might get more handball receives as Rioli had more than him this year. Though Short's numbers also weren't really down in that area compared to previous years tbf.
