Mills will 100% be straight back into the midfield next year. Cox has emphasized that we need to improve at the contest, and Mills is the best inside midfielder on the list. The Swans desperately need him there and the only reason he wasn't playing there this year is because they rushed him back into the team and he wasn't fit. They still tried to rush him back into the midfield set-up even when it was clear he wasn't 100%. He's a lock for me assuming he gets through pre-season. I was less keen until I saw how we approached the draft and what Cox has said since taking the role.

The flow-on effect of that could see Gulden being moved back onto the wing which I think would be a great thing for his scoring too. He's much less effective as an inside midfielder. Not touching him until after the bye, but could see him surpassing his form in the second half of 2023 if that does happen.

Heeney, Mills, Gulden, Warner, Rowbottom

You'd think that will be the onball group. Easily room for all 5 given Warner and Heeney can rotate forward, Gulden wing and Mills back.

The only ones I'm nervous skipping (round 0 players) are Naicos & Flanders

I might get FOMO but I hated having to bench them twice last year before others even had a bye

But I did start around 7 round zero players maybe if I had 2 only it wouldn't be so bad

These guys wont kill you, especially with the bye. Nick will get tagged and Flanders won't be getting max CBAs at the Suns.

I am happy to pass on anyone 650+ but the only ones I'm looking at are Butters, Sheezel and Xerri. Bont is a bit expensive so will pass to start.

Not sure who this may affect from the Swans. Hopefully Mills will be plying his trade at the coal face.
Based on what Cox has said, Mills and Sheldrick are 2 I could see being worth a look. They're the 2 best options for what he's hoping to achieve in the midfield.

He wants more pressure in the forward line too which probably means 2 of Campbell, Cleary and Dattoli. Cleary is one to watch. He rotated through the midfield in the last game he played this year, so if he gets a look in, he might be capable of a couple of spike scores and he should be dirt cheap.

The only other Swans player I could see being relevant early next year is Bice. I'm not sure if we'd have drafted a mature age flanker if we didn't see them having a role in the first team, though I don't know who he replaces.

TL;DR: Mills, Sheldrick, Cleary, and Bice the only Swans players that should be considered until after the first bye.

I went to watch a little bit of the dees training today.

Saw enough I won’t be going near Clarry unless I want to push him to m9. Both times when the whistle blew he was the last one to finish running to the drinks, came off the track for 5 minutes then did laps with Tom Campbell who finished 10 meters in front of him and looked no where near as tired as piggy.

Trac looked really good and happy. I am considering him. He is the ultimate professional and I have no doubt he will have done the psychological and physical preparation to get back into playing AFL.

Gawn was moving well, making his way up the whole ground in drills and pushing himself hard. I didn’t want to start him last year because of injury/durability concern, even more so this year. I am thinking Xerri and Meek as I worry about TDK availability through out the season. If I strong f3 was available maybe I would.

From the one session I saw, it doesn’t look like they are a team hellbent on using every moment on the track to improve.

Multiple training reports on the dees board also suggesting Oliver is significantly overweight and performing poorly in running. Bummer. Will have to put a line through him. Looks like my confidence in getting 2022 Oliver back was misplaced.

Cerra could be a watch. Went overseas and they're confident they have a long-term fix to his hamstring issues. He's a funny price but could see him going 110+ if he stays fit. Has a SC favourable playing style.

Hollands will go 90+ if he plays half-back but he will be 350k and a midfielder, so probably not viable.

Curnow has been banned for life from my supercoach team as have all key forwards thanks to him.

I'm not sure how many on here play BBL Supercoach but this year they have made a change and it could work with AFL as well. They have brought in "Flex" which is an extra player. So normally in BBL you get 11 players on field but this year you can have a 12th player/flex and you get the Top 11 scores for the round.
I'm wondering if they are trialing this in BBL and maybe have a similar format in AFL Supercoach. I think it would work well in the AFL version as well so have a 23rd player in case there is an injury or just a poor game the lowest score could be dropped for the Flex player. Emergencies can still be used and the Flex player can also be used as VC/C

Well It's happening just like I thought.
The "Flex" will be in AFL Supercoach next year and the Magic Number will drop down quite a lot.

I love the Flex. Injuries to premos early in games just kill you and are complete luck. Also provides protection against the sub rule, which is a nightmare for supercoach.

Cerra will be a great starting pick.

Really, he will.

Had an 11 game patch in 2023 where he averaged 120+ before doing his hammy. Fortune favours the brave.
Brave dumb

Who's to say

Cerra won't be a top 20 mid on average or total points.

Walsh is the only potential Carlton trap I could see myself falling for next year if he has a strong pre-season. Trying to look at all potential premiums from non-opening round teams which rules out quite a few potential top 20 midfielders.

If he gets through the season uninjured it is highly likely he is a top 20 mid. The uninjured part is obviously the major if.

Tough price as you really need him to be a keeper, which probably means 110 minimum.

I wouldnt have him in atm but is a watch.
