Only issue ppl have for Daniel / pick 25 trade is that the dogs wanted him gone and we paid top dollar for him.

I would have thought so. Leading as the decoy target as he did at West Coast.Yeah, Darling’s experience and guile would be best used further up the field you would think?
It's a sunk cost. The day after they are drafted or traded, they are North players, and that stuff has no more relevance.Yeah but pick 25
And that’s why we continue to remain at the foot of the ladder. The stuff around McDonald is funny to me.
If he’s fit he’s going to play round 1.
As a club we tend not to shit on blokes who really put in to the club.
While I personally don’t see McDonald or Jy as the optimal choices to remain captains I do not see the club just blanket dropping them either.
There is the reality of what the club does and then there’s the head narrative that some posters make up about how the club will act.
Big old grain of salt but there is often a big difference between some of the outrage on here and the thoughts within the club.
Not if you want him setting up the forward line. Closer he is to goal the easier it is for him to do that.Yeah, Darling’s experience and guile would be best used further up the field you would think?

There is no ruthlessness.
It also creates an air of comfort.I think that is an over simplification of the cacophony of issues that has lead us to where we are.
The more thought I’ve poured into why we are where we are the more it has pointed to long standing deep seated issues.
I don’t think that it is inherently wrong to have a level of sentimentality about the club and in fact it likely gives us an edge in player retention.
Outside of NCJ there are exceedingly few players we’ve really wanted to keep that have walked.
So we compete with clubs who can offer things we never could on the basis of that emotional connection.

The issue you are describing is a decades long problem that Luke merely sits at the top of the heap of at the moment. It also creates an air of comfort.
The continued selection of poor performing senior players under the guise of doing the right thing by the good guys because they ‘put in’. The fact he’s been voted in as captain has made him untouchable.
I do agree that it certainly isn’t the only issue, but this one is close to the top, in more ways than one.
It has no need to be slow though. The issue you are describing is a decades long problem that Luke merely sits at the top of the heap of at the moment.
I do feel that change is coming with this, but it’ll be slow.
And back to my very first point Luke is probably going to be in the round 1 side.
All things going well he will either clearly deserve to be in or out of the side that plays our last game in 2025.
Like an ATAR.It's a sunk cost. The day after they are drafted or traded, they are North players, and that stuff has no more relevance.
Queensland: Beautiful one day...Raining on the Gc the next 4 days
Not ideal for our camp
Why? They didn’t go up there to play cricket.Raining on the Gc the next 4 days

My view is if he is fit and the best player to suit that position then he plays if not he shouldn’t.It has no need to be slow though.
He, and all the list basically, are told that if you’re not performing, you’re out regardless of status within the club, the position you play or whether your feelings get hurt because you’re a good bloke.
Cut throat selection with no exceptions.
rather train in the sun than the rainWhy? They didn’t go up there to play cricket.
If I've learnt something over years is not yo get to excited from training reports.Only issue REASONABLE ppl have for Daniel ...
I distinctly remember a stream of derision from some chicken-little impersonators when the trade went down. Apparently they'd done their research and found out that he was short. They also thought he was slow and his kicking was over-rated.
No one is worse that is guaranteed to play every gameLMAC cops it to hard still. Just a whipping boy at this point. Far from our worst. Fills a tough role every week. Not my fav player but finished top 10 BnF with a reason
Yeah recruiting Daniel is an admission that bright spark Rawling and co got the Fisher recruitment wrong. Still we didn’t have to get Daniel. We simply paid overs for a guy who lacks penetration in his kicking and can’t defend. Sure he will collect the ball some 25 times a game and lay off some nice short passes but he wont be moving the needle or breaking the lines. :stern lookI have an issue that a year prior we spent draft concessions on a bloke that came in to play the role we are going to get Daniel to play.
Only the player we got is flakey.
So we had to get Daniel in to lead and compete and play the role. In a year where we had far less draft capital to spend.
There is a dominoes argument that Fisher being soft and flakey cost us our 2025 first round pick. With Daniel merely being meat in that sandwich.
Have heard he’s really impressing everyone. The most interesting part of this pre season for me is the development of Goad. He looked a mile off last year but upside is obviously there and he is obviously a project. Will be curious to see what he does.
Other interesting parts are return of Goater and lesser extent for me George.
Hardeman could have a sneaky run at our best 22
Duurs i still feel takes more time, W Dawson and Matlock who is forward and who is back.
We didn't have to use those picks on established players. And the trade didn't use one either, it was 17 + Fisher for 21 + 25.Who should we have taken instead of Fisher with our concession pick that we had to use on an established player or potentially (most likely) lose the next year?
Last year's free agency crop wasn't exactly amazing.
