Reminds me of a young Hewett, without the versatility, same ish speed, solid hands, good decision maker, both very similar traits

Interesting people talk about the lack of metres gained in Hewett's game (vision is a better indicator), Lord's numbers are much lower per possession, but it's a small sample size

Great pick up for a mid season draft
Metres gained is just a bad stat imo especially for inside mids. I can go out there and hack the ball 50m forward every time at the contest and be the best metres gained player ever. The very best however remain composed and dish it out to the advantage of a distributor - low metres gained directly but a far better result for the team.

I completely agree, but the stat (usless without vision) was being used as to why Lord should be playing in front of Hewett

Essentially they are the exact same type

Agree theyre very similar. Lord maybe a more penetrating kick. Hewett has alot more runs on the board obviously.

I dont think you could use any stats to justify Lord over Hewett. If Lord gets Hewetts spot it will be based on what he shows over preseason, not those games at the end of last year.

I'd love Lord to take the spot, but if you were picking today one or the other it'd have to be Hewett. Time will tell.

Didn't mean for my post to seem like an attack on you. Looks a bit harsher reading back. I just get frustrated when every player is judged on how "strong" they look. We need our small forwards to be faster and more agile. Besides the point, we've been the best contested side for the past three seasons and it hasn't brought us a premiership. It's time that we take a different view on things.

Most Richmond sessions are closed.
No apology necessary.
I didn't take it as an attack on me.
Took it for what it was, which is a passionate Carlton supporter, defending one of their own. No issues here

On reflection, I may have been a bit harsh on young Mots anyway.
I don't know what instructions Mots was given by the club, over the off season, in regards to his body.
He may have come back exactly how they want him and in exactly the right shape, for all I know.
Maybe I should have a think about it more before posting
