Training was delayed until today, because they spend Monday reviewing the Grand Final

Don’t mind this from cox. Pretty bold of a * new coach coming in and starting by confronting the players with a massive negative . Hopefully sets the tone that it won’t be tolerated.

First tick for cox for me

Had to address the 🐘 in the room immediately. Nice to hear the word accountable spoken.
Interesting photo of Cox, Mills, McCartin and Gulden having a chat. Might be quite significant.

He displayed some of the most poor decision making I’ve ever seen at afl level last year. Not to mention panics with ball in hand .

He does his job but doesn’t strike me as a leader from the outside looking in .

Sounds like a very passionate opinion based on stuff all knowledge of the relationship he has within the group and his ability to get a message across.

Luke Parker wasn't exactly Scott Pendlebury when he had the ball, but his leadership credentials could never be doubted.

I think McCartin has leadership potential for sure. From what I have heard he's extremely popular amongst the players and a confident person, but level-headed (which has been the knock on a few of our other leaders, both past and present.) He only narrowly missed out on the leadership group this year.

Generally leaders can be counted on to make the right decision at the right time and remain cool under pressure. Don’t think many around here would say Tmac fits that bill

Probably need a defender that’s not Rampe so who else do you want? Florent maybe?

Who in our side fit that bill? I’ll give you Heeney who else?

I'd also point to the concussions McCartin has given himself, despite his history in that regard, from putting his body on the line.

For more of that sort of commitment from this team, I'd happily take a few fumbles and sloppy disposals.
2023 preseason game vs Brisbane at Blacktown Tom was definitely part of the leadership that night, no Rampe. Coaches worked with him all night. Pretty sure he's held in high regard, maybe not the Rampe level but still high.

Things I don't care about:

Who is in the "leadership group".

Senior players set the standard through their actions, not because they're part of a "group" or a "committee" or whatever.
I think the leadership group and the senior players setting the standard through their actions are one in the same.

You don't get in the former without the latter.

By that logic, none of us should be making any comment about the leadership group as none of us know about the relationships at the club and who says what.
