If we decide to play a tagger as we did in the prelim years can see him play round 2

We’ve missed this role for the last couple of years

He’s currently training in the group with Goldy, Higgins, Tarryn, Simpkin, Cunners etc so hopefully building the synergy there This week before the whole group trains together next week

Yeah, he's well equipped for that lockdown role.

Actually - lots of similarities with Jacobs.

High draft pick, shown great signs abut also never settled at other clubs.

No doubting the footy smarts or basic inside mid ability.

Do you think Jacobs would’ve ended up a tagger if Brad wasn’t out with back surgery?

Not a slight at Brad, he wanted all mids to go head to head.
I think Rhyce might be more open to the idea of shutting a game down and winning by goal in a two goal game.

Rhyce being a defensive player would have that mindset, so based on that and the fact he has already had Hayden training or working with BJ I would say that he will go with a run with player.

LDU (if he can come good this year) and Bonar are still ahead of Tyson. Tyson was fit all pre-season and didn't play an official practice match or even make emergency for round 1. Good depth but he couldn't be further back in the queue.

The pre-season.

Two vignettes I witnessed during pre-season of players doing extra work.

LDU (along with Tarry, Jy and Bonar) were doing extra work on hitting up leading forwards while streaming at pace out of the centre after training had finished in December - everyone else up having a feed on the balcony, they're out putting in hard yards. LDU hitting the leading target **** high lace out with beautifully weighted long passes.

Dom Tyson on a Sunday morning practicing basic dinky 20m passes, the kind a mid uses to keep possesion, and scrubbing some.

Tyson is good depth. He could be a good run with player.

But we've seen him at senior level for North. And the Dees. And GWS.

We know what he is, and he just doesn't LDUs qualities in many regards.

We also have seen him playing senior footy for North and it coincided with the period when we were abysmal and the coach ended up getting sacked.

It’s funny thou, I wouldn’t want LDU, Jy, Thomas even Bonar tagging an opponent out of the game, those guys need to play instinctively.

He gets the pill. End of story.

Jacks plays predominately forward now.

There's nothing wrong with Jy's skills either.

Anderson is not exactly unskilled either, in my view. He does a lot of his work in tight which leads to rushed kicks. However, in the St Kilda game alone, he spotted up Cunnington beautifully for his first goal. Also, his quick thinking kick to Curtis Taylor led to another. That means he played a major role in 25% of our goals, at least. That can’t be too bad.

yes but these two are your attacking weapons, of course they have collective defensive duties, shutting someone down for good is alternative weapon.

Jed plays a major roll in a lot of our goals and did when he was a bit less popular too.

And speaking of Jed ...

When he came back into the side last year and Dom went out, our rate of clearances basically doubled immediately and stayed twice as high. And that was when we weren't a great clearance team. I think that is the issue with Dom.
