Re: #21: Dyson Heppell - Fitness levels in 2011/2012

Is it me or is he trying too hard to appear composed and be too cute ? many times he has been smothered in the last 3 games while trying to swerve his way out of traffic.

Not that big a issue, but I'm starting to notice it happen a little more often.

Re: #21: Dyson Heppell - General discussion

Nah he is going ok, just didn't have many options and not getting as much time to dispose as he did in the backline.

His form is about what I expected for this year (as is Zaka, TBH, is Melk who is struggling).

Heppell will have a few better games once he adjusts to the increased speed closer to the stoppages, but he is doing fine.

Re: #21: Dyson Heppell - General discussion

Happy with his form.

Was excellent in the first half against the Kangaroos, average against Power, good against GC.

Had in a group of players who were unlucky to miss out in the BF voting.

Re: #21: Dyson Heppell - General discussion

Good to see him doing a bit work on the wing this year, doesn't look like his suffering from the 'second year blues'
2 more pre-seasons under his belt I could picture him turning into a Pendlebury type player.

Sides have worked out he's only got one foot, and hemming him in a little bit.

Heppell has one of the best football brains I have seen in years. Rarely makes a mistake, is composed, hits targets.. There is a fair bit of Simon Black about him.

Barring injury or anything out of the ordinary (ie keeps his feet on the ground), he will go down as an all time great of Essendon.

Re: #21: Dyson Heppell - Fitness levels in 2011/2012

Reckon the added pressure and the work teams are putting into him is showing. But he is already starting to turn the corner and is looking much like he was last year.

Give him 2 years and he will be an absolute gun midfielder.

Re: #21: Dyson Heppell - General discussion

All class, always seems to make space when there is none. As aforementioned, if he keeps his body right, he'll go down as one of Essendon's greats.

Re: #21: Dyson Heppell - Returning to his best footy

Just an absolute diamond.

Played 26 games so far - how many really poor ones? 1-2? Already playing like a 100 gamer.

Re: #21: Dyson Heppell - Returning to his best footy

Any chance that Heppell may play most of his career as a sweeping half back - Don't think that it is set in stone that he will become a midfielder.

Re: #21: Dyson Heppell - Returning to his best footy

maybe posted already but said he gained about 5kg over the preseason on The Game Plan

Re: Round 6 Votes - Essendon VS Brisbane

3. Heppell- did what he liked, still not a great long kick, and can panic a little, but, it's hard to remember he is 19.
handy!

Really? What are you expecting, precise 80 m torps ala Fletch?

His long kicking is just fine and amongst the best in the team I would have thought...
