What a marvellous career from a marvellous player and person. Congratulations Goldie! Thank you for your loyalty and commitment to North Melbourne over the years; it's been a pleasure watching you play.

Indeed, he has been one of my favourite NM players to watch over the past 15 years or so. I loved the ability he showed from early on, which was enough to oust more senior ruckman from the role and to claim it as his own and which he has continued perform in this season.

While the pundits have naturally focused on his records in hit-outs, which he's earned as a result of his technique and his well-renowned endurance, what sets him apart for me is his midfield craft. For a big man, his agility, the surety of his pick-ups, the nous to choose and time the right handball to set up a team-mate and the often laser-like inside 50s. He's a footballer, not just a ruckman. (For me, that's about the best praise you can give a ruckman.)

Goldie is up there with Boomer, Petrie, Archer and Stevens for me, not as 300 game players (or nearly, in Stevo's case) but as a North Melbourne player whose career you look back on fondly for not just their ability, but for who they are, and how they have contributed to, and represent, the culture they themselves cherish.

Nice words from all, but the comments from Gawn and Grundy really stand out for me, two of his greatest rivals over the last 5/6/7 years and both show they have great respect with their contributions.

In that 25 game run we won something like 20 games including the last three (well nine in total) which would have been finals. Kind of peak Brad Scott to do that as well.

In the 21 games from Round 15, 2015 to Round 9, 2016 we won 18 and lost 3. One loss was when we rested half the side in the last round of 2015, and another was the 2015 PF larceny in the West. The only teams we didn't beat in that time were Hawthorn, Collingwood and Port (we didn't play them) and West Coast.

l can remember when l first met Goldy. It was at a function at Docklands and he was standing by himself in a tent. After a brief chat he said he was worried that he would never get a game in the seniors as Hamish was playing well and was our No1 ruckman. l told him his time will come and just be patient. How true were those words...Well done Goldy..Congratulations!!!

Angry Todd is the best Todd.
Yesterday was good.
2021 West Coast another.

2019 against Port and Dogs in Brads last game. He is elite when he’s angry.
He looked genuinely pissed off at points with the teams effort.

Took it upon himself to win the aerial contest.
