Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

"Hawthorn sharpshooter Ben Dixon believes Lance Franklin should play a final season at the Gold Coast Suns, with his career at Sydney potentially over after an injury on Saturday night."

A truly great career and a dreadful way to end. But the time has been coming for a while. Personally, I wish he had gone at the end of last season so he could have had a great send off. Not the GF of course. Lol.

I have no doubt this week's match will be devoted to him and the week after will be a celebration of his career at home. We owe him a lot. All except a premiership. I think 2016 was the one that got away. I wonder what would have happened if we had played 22 fit players that day?

Lets not bring 2016 into this discussion.

Anyways.

Huge thank you to Franklin, his past two weeks showed he still had a great role to play.

One of he all time AFL greats and one of the all time great Swans, possibly the best field kick I have seen and his athleticism was second to probably only Goodes during my time as a fan.

One of those players who could always captivate, watching him kick goals from 55 on an angle whilst swinging out in his "Buddy arc" was always brilliant to watch.

I imagine he will actually be a pretty good coach/ scout, has a real passion for the game.

well some will be happy he went I guess we been calling for it long enough in here

I think he was justified playing this year and when fit was still good

Been a stellar career , an amazing player, better to have on your team than against that's for sure

a genuine entertainer
