Past #24: Levi Greenwood - officially traded to Collingwood FC for pick 25 (2014) - retires rd16 2021 due to concussion symptoms - go well Pig

Nothing wrong with Spitta's media performances. Cunnington and Levi are just not comfortable public speaking, and there are plenty in our team who would be more suited to it anyway.

FWIW, trying to have a one on one discussion with Cunners can be hard work, let alone public speaking. The bloke is unbelievably humble and shy and would have felt completely uncomfortable being up there.

Media training is a good idea as I suspect he'll be giving further acceptance speeches down the track.

Beams is considered a far better player because he plays for Collingwood, pure and simple. If Greenwood had the same year in a Collingwood jumper they would be calling him a superstar.

If Beams is worth pick 4 and more according to Collingwood then Levi at least commands a pick between 10 and 20.

Beams is considered a far better player because he is. His last three years have produced around 30 touches and a goal a game.

After finally having a chance to watch Levi's speech I feel he is gone too. It was the fact that there was no acknowledgement of his coach. This tells me he resents the two years in and out of the side. This I fear is too much for him to mentally overcome.
Seriously? If that is his reason for leaving then I call that mentally weak. He played every game bar 1 this year, hardly the actions of a coach with a grudge or agenda to not play him? Maybe his game time has increased because he started playing good footy.....just a thought.

A better player yes, far better I disagree. You don't pick up 15 touches in the last quarter of an elimination final that is up for grabs unless you can seriously play. I'll say it again, if that performance was in a Collingwood jumper he gets tagged as a superstar.

I didn't say he couldn't play, but he's not even close to Beams, who is a genuine superstar.

I had a dream last night that I was in a huddle playing with North in 2015 and Levi was addressing us.

He will stay.

Whether I get a game is another story....
From meme's to best 22. Quite an effort.

The mods will have to work with Walsh to see what sort of deal the north board can get.

McMahon and LA for Gasometer. We know McMahon is funny but LA will have to be on a gif/meme based contract.

If Walsh plays hard ball I'd be happy to go too.

Make it happen Euge.

They aren't as far away as you are making out either. Beams is better, but Levi produced great numbers even though he was actually tagging in some games.

The gap between the two is closer than you think .

Fair enough, will agree to disagree.

How is that? You put your price on a player as a part of greater list management. If another club wants to pay overs and that player clearly does not have his heart at your club, how is that bad management?

That's in the belief the other club is paying overs... What if North if offering unders? Greenwood isn't worth what North thinks he is worth... He is worth what the market dictates he is worth.

You're comparing apples to oranges. We didn't play Jacobs as an inside midfielder, but we will need another one if Greenwood decides to leave, due to team balance.

True, but Dumont is currently a mile short of filling Greenwood's shoes in this capacity.

ok so we offer Levi 450 and 4.

Ziebull, Swallow, Cunners are all ahead of Levi, so when they come out of contract, what then?

You can't let the players run the club, you offer a fair deal and maintain your entire list, no individual goes ahead of the club.

I reckon Levi is the sort of player that would accept unders to stay, hope I'm right

Hate to break it to you mate, but if that were true, he'd've signed the first contract we put in front of him.

Really? That does seem high. Be shocked if you landed a pick that high. Don't even see why we're chasing him to be honest. Weird one. Gut feel is he stays surely.
Chase a key forward from gws and throw everything at them.

I have four really good tanks and have a few others I am rebuilding that may be really good in time. I go to the tank auction because I may want another. Another bloke is there but he has 1 tank and really needs another. He is willing to pay $1.35 million for the tank, which is $350k more than I am willing to pay because I have a budget in place for my activities over the next three years. Do I break my plans for the next 3 years for something that I don't really need and have potential replacements for anyway or do I spend more than I think wise to compete with the desperate buyer?

the part of me that doesn't mind if Greenwood leaves, as it's an opportunity to inject a point of difference into the midfield, doesn't then know how to take the realisation that Dumont, and Higgins have lead feet. Both tipped to come into the 22 next year.

I haven't seen enough but remember reading Dumont needed to work on his outside game. Have we got another cunners in dumont? Wins plenty of it but offers little on the spread?

When you think about it, Greenwood often broke away from the clearance. So with Greenwood out, we need that run replaced just as much as his ball winning capabilites.

I was referring to the two years before this year. ie The "learning years" which he may have resented.

If Levi decides to leave maybe we can get in a deal that lands O'Rourke?

Not 100% sure but I thought I read that Patful is looking to get to GWS?

Maybe Brisbane can send Patful to GWS, pick 4 to Collingwood.

Brisbane get Beams.

North gets JOR.

Collingwood get 4 and Greenwood.

The only missing part of the equation is Patful's value, I'm not really sure of his worth? Collingwood can send on a pick to either GWS or Brisbane to make up the shortfall in Patful's value.

Likely gone. I would think that we would want something between 14 and 22 given the year he had but will likely get offered a mid 20's and potentially a swap of later picks.
