I reckon he has real good connection with all of the boys, but certainly the younger fellas are probably on his mind as the group that will be his to grow next 5 years (and further hopefully!)

The leaders vs the led. We only win flags if the young guys flex on their potential.

I pose a simple question for everyone.

Has there been a time where Tom Powell (1) has had continuity and (2) not been one of the most exciting prospects on the list?

The answer, for me, is a hard no. And read that 'hard' how you will.

Some posters on here jumped off the bandwagon big time last year.

Hard to play good footy when you are a creative mid and you are expected to play half forward, wing with only limited exposure to the midfield. Not to mention he was playing in side that was devoid of any sort of structure.

He is smart, creative and has all the tools to be a damaging player, can’t way to see how he progresses this year.

He was also coming back from a bout of OP, basically losing any explosive strength through the core that he had.

Keep hearing noble wasn’t a fan. What are the reasons?
Cuz he be old, and crusty and nobody want him no mo’ cause they want POWELLY AND SEXTINA AQUAFINA BABY!

Great show.

I was not happy when it ended. The other one by one of the main peeps involved was cool too.

Some posters were off him just before the intra-club and only a few pages ago on here. No perspective sometimes.

With all due respect to them, there are some posters that genuinely have NFI and should reserve from posting.

Some posters feel some posters make a heck of a lot of excuses for some footballers. And also said posters feel that also other posters pump up our underachieving footballers way too much.

In saying all that I think Tom will have a great year and remove the shitmen tag he gained in 2022

I mean, enough coaches get fired every year for not understanding what’s wrong with their team.

So it’s not surprising a lot of fans don’t either!

He wasn’t great last year, he was not strong enough in the contest against mature Mids and his defense was crappy
Once he starts getting the ball more often we will tolerate poor defense, as we do with Jy LDU and cunners
Now Ando is gone Greenwood is a lock as the defensive mid

Keep hearing noble wasn’t a fan. What are the reasons?
If I had to take a stab at it as a total outsider, I'd guess that the young blokes, Powell included, found Noble's obsessive/micro managing/rambling style boring and/or grating, more so than the older lads who'd likely be able to better conceal their dislike. And I'd guess that the young lads reacted accordingly by showing 'poor' body language or whatever during meetings and maybe training with less enthusiasm due to their despondency over the situation. Causing Noble to take note and treat them more harshly.

Purely speculation but from what we know about Noble, a decent guy but a shit communicator, and the go getter nature of our young blokes, I don't think I'd be too far off the mark.

Last year:
He was a second year mid that copped OP and was playing in a shit team left mostly on a flank to rot by an inept coach. I get why some jumped off him last year, but the reasons why he was off were pretty obvious to most.

Now:
Has bulked up, dominated the intra and was hardly disgraced by a very good richmond midfield. Where he is now is testament to his character and work ethic. Sky is the limit.

Where do I even begin with David Noble's dislike of Tom Powell? It was clear from the get-go that there was just something about Powell that rubbed Noble the wrong way. Maybe it was his boyish good looks, his infectious positivity, his impressive skills or the fact that he wore socks with sandals? We shall never know… Oh well as TAO would say.

That's the point. Anyone with half a clue would take those factors (last year) into consideration when assessing his year. Others jump to conclusions, write players off, question the trade and his value in the team and his potential as a player.

That’s against the sprit of bigfooty thou, you have to get in first, then you can rehash the post in a couple of years time, to show how good a judge you are.
