God I hope he can back it up. Not only for his career, but it'll free up Thompson to do what he does best rather than playing a stock standard 1v1 role.
Play on nobody? Anyone can do that.
You're not a fan of Thompson? The guy is an All-Australian for a reason.
3 years ago, two of the three triple towers (Hansen, Tarrant & Petrie) were playing forward.
Now two of them are playing as our backman.
Just need Petrie to go back to complete the trifecta.
+ spudbe interesting trying to find a spot for Thompson, Hansen , Grima, Tippett and Tarrant, just sayin.
+ spud
Well, Grima and Tarrant are far too injury prone to not have solid backups for....hence why we need them all,Yeah fair call, I suppose I figured Spud ( who's awesome) as a mid sized back.
The other guys are all mature aged hence the reason I left out Durdin.
Hansen (26.5 yrs old) Grima (30) Thompson ( 29) Tarrant (26) Tippett ( 26).
Their time is now none of them are at a learning curve stage, age wise.
Can't see how we: a) need them all b) why we'd keep them all.
IF Tarrant remains fit we've a surplus.
Just trying to soften the blow for when I list those we should trade at seasons end was all.
PS- Tarrant's a keeper.
Absolutely loved his work on Sat night.
I've been very critical of his awful performances but he showed really positive signs down back. (unlike when he first started)
One of the best things to come out of the game, fingers crossed he stays fit and continues to show that kind of ability and output.
Footy's a team game. When he played down back 4 years ago we were being flogged, with regular blow outs. The whole defence looked bad.
Your call that he lacked talent on the basis of those performances was premature, as well as individualistic. Same overestimation going on in the assessment of Wood.
A handful of players star in any team: otherwise most players rise and fall according to overall strength of the team.
Wood is impressive. Not overrated at all.
Taz has been woeful at times, even when we were going fine.
He might have improved and considering he didn't/won't make it as a fwd, we need a key back and he has done very well on one game and hopefully continues (staying fit).
No shame in that, plenty don't and the most recent big name is Michael Hurley. Poor fwd but producing down back.
Team game yes, but individuals can be commented on within that.
Hurley had always been a backman.
Having watched him all through juniors, he did his best work down back.
