Great pick imo. We took the strongest of the key forwards, exactly what we need exactly at the right time to dovetail with Lynch's career. Not worried about "reaching," you pick them where you rate them, not where bigfooty & the media rate them.
He’s diff to Armstrong so will be a good pairing

I'm happy we redeemd ourselves, but Faull at 14 is still a reach & I stand by it.

Absolutely a reach based on what is out on the media.

But it was also our fourth pick where we started to diversify, so to get our #1 ranked KPF is always a good outcome. Take the guy who is rated highest on your board always.

Could have traded back and picked him up later, but we were limited in what could be returned (before the trade for north’s F1) and could only have taken a future pick. Not sure any of the teams between us and our next pick would have given it, making the risk of having him slip to our next pick not worth taking.

We have loved Jonty all year. Has always been one of our tall targets. His work rate without the ball and willingness to.compete at ground level set him apart from Shanahan and Armstrong. The fact we also got Armstrong is a bonus. Armstrong and Faull will be our next Lynch and Jack pairing.

Great pick up maybe a tad early but whatever he can play footy.
Anyone see Scott Lucas in the way he plays or Longmire ?

Was actually the no 1 rated KPF at one stage, reach? maybe? just what we need? 100%
Also has the most campaigner in him of all the KPF in this draft apparently and plays angry
thats usually a good indication of determination and intent to hurt and win

We clearly rated him highest of the KPF and if he never got injured early could have been rated alot higher
I like this pick sure its about 7-8 spots before expected but we got the player we wanted

I know nothing about him. But the name "Jonty Faull" alone rings alarm bells. When a player is recruited as a Key Position Fwd & under weaknesses he has "contested Marking" & Composure - i reckon those 2 things might be the most important skillset you need from that position.

I said a few weeks back that I didn’t want a nice tall fwd, I wanted one that crashed packs as well as second efforts and hard running. A Treacy rather than a Max King.

Looks like I got my wish. Didn’t know what his ceiling might be but I knew he was the most competitive.

Surprised we took him that early but obviously others were lurking. Love the pick.

I didn't think his highlights were great on draft night. It felt like we took him too early.

He reminds me of Ryan, which I don't like. But I haven't seen him play or know anything about him, so I'm not really criticising him.

Yeah, just looking at him celebrate becoming a tiger - going to be a fan favourite I reckon

If we were told we’d get Faull & Armstrong as 2 key forwards at the start of the night, we’d probably take it.

Doesn’t matter the order.

Heard Jonty speak on radio this morning and said his strengths were competitiveness and want to attack the ball regardless of who's in his way. weakness probably endurance, which can be worked on in a full time environment.

I didn't quite put in the amount of work that the recruiters did on these blokes, so I'll back their judgement.

I agree with ol Shifters comparison with Jessie Hogan
Big andstrong, takes the front position , hits packs hard and follows up at ground level.
And listening to Blair it’s about building a Premiership team, with players that are going to stand up in finals football.
This pick was actually my favourite of the night, I think he’ll be the perfect type to build a forward line around.

Happy to have Jonty at Tigerland... I went to the U18s Coates League GF to watch some of the other boys (Armstrong in particular) and besides Ashcroft who tore it up that day, Jonty was the one who caught my eye the most with his movement and positioning. Good get!

How does he remind you Ryan? I don't know much about him but it seems is key trait is his competitiveness and aggressiveness crashing packs. That seems like the exact thing that Ryan is missing the most. Add in the massive height difference and they really look like complete opposites.

In what way does he remind you of Ryan?

John C Reilly Seriously GIF

He wasn't high on the mock drafts - this is why some people are questioning taking his so highly or in front of others. I was one of them, then I heard why we have taken him over the likes of the Whitlocks (sp?) and Shanahan; his aggression, second efforts, desperation to win the contest. These traits are exactly what I loved about Jack and Lynch. You can't take you eye of them or be hurt, figuratively and literally, because they do not give up or shirk contests. Even if they are up against multiple opponents they bring the ball to ground and create space. I see this kid doing the same.

What I'm really excited about is the forward combination of Faull, Armstrong and Laylor, all of them play differently, all of them are dangerous. Great recruiting!!!

He just looks a bit gangly thats all. I've seen 30 seconds of highlights to base it on. Don't get your knickers in a knot.

Wasn't getting my "knickers in a knot". It was a genuine questions, as I also don't know much about him but he seems the completely opposite to Ryan to me.

Hes also 195cm v Ryans 206cm, so I dong get the gangly comparison there.
