I was wrong on this one I hope. Super impressive game with strong inside work. Was in every contest and was clean in close by hands , but footskills could do with some work. As mentioned better than Hopper and I’ll add JGTI, KMac and Pickett. Need to play the kids except for Ryan as he’s looking fragile and disinterested.
Saying Samson was Disinterested is insulting.. yeah he looked rusty but he still did some good things too.
Wasn’t all bad

I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts clunking them vs pies

I wouldn’t call Dow a magician by any means.

The penetration on his kicking is definitely an issue.
anyone whose hands are compared to Shedda is a magician.

Haven't seen him clunk a mark in all the games I've seen him play. It's like his hands are made of cement.
Done it plenty in VFL.. he just needs to be a bit stronger in the contest and they will start sticking

Don't know mate as he was disappointing in my eyes and really insulting to the fans with that performance. If you're 200cm and can't hold a mark and get shoved out of the contest by blokes 20cm shorter than you then you should be looking into another a career. Looks exactly the same as last year with no improvement in aggression, ability and positioning himself.

A Brissy poster came on here who'd watched him a junior described him as having dinner plate hands. It's been a long term problem which hasn't gotten any better in his development. His issues is poor positioning and no legs or core strength.

give me a farrkking spell...

To me he was a young kid, trying (too hard at stages) to play his best, he clearly had a bad day, and you could see he was getting frustrated, more at that his efforts weren't equating to positive output.

Insulting to fans, well that would only be someone who turns up and doesn't try. The kid was trying, it just wasn't working for him.

And in reality, the kid owes nothing to the fans anyway.

Not convinced personally.

I think his handball to kick ratio is very far out of skew. I admire his ability to be willing to be involved around stoppage but we already have Taranto who is limited in the kicking area of his game.

His game in my opinion does not translate to fast ball movement. He would be an absolute nightmare for forwards to lead to as he is choosing hands over kicking 90% of the time.

I think he will get games with Prestia possibly injured. But this being his 5th year in the system I can’t see the ratio changing much.
What would you like to see before you are convinced? Hopefully plays well vs Collingwood as well. Then he deserves starting 22.

He showed no ****ing heart and i was answering to a poster who made a similar remark towards me . So pi55 off if you want a break. He's been long enough in the system and still hasn't progressed and fails to take a contested mark. FYI every player tries hard, but it doesn't matter how much you try sometimes you're just not good enough. Liam McBean and Cleve Hughes are two that say hi. Learn to follow the thread rather than carrying on like a lunatic.

I see Dow as a similar player to Shane Edwards. Smart, evasive and quick. He's quick with his hands and can release players starting our chain. We have missed that for the past 3 years.

Now we just need a Lambert replacement and we are set.

You must be easily insulted. Yeah he was poor but rucks take a while to develop and he played on the best ruck in the league.

Relax.

even the part timer kicked his butt. He actually gets in the right position and knows where to run to and sets up well, but then everything goes pear shaped bc he's just got no core or leg strength. Players around the same age with similar build in AFL are well ahead of him and his issues have been since a junior. If he could keep his feet and grab a third of his marks he'd be a jet. It's a big if atm.

Doesn’t have Sheds leg speed or outside run. He’s more an inside player and a Clayton Oliver type bc he’s destructive by hands only

He's more like a young Greg Williams in my eyes. If he can develop a lot more and somewhat come within being 60% as good as him, we have a winner. As one of my favourite lines ever from Clint Eastwood goes, " A man's got to know his limitations!". If he understands his hands are far better than his feet and releases the ball that way, he will be a weapon.

I was thinking of Diesel, but I wanted to keep it in perspective at this stage.
