its moot anyway because its virtually guaranteed he wont be on the list when we contend. fwiw i like kayne but the potting on here of him is not going to result in any decision thts going to make us more competative in the short term. until we aquire a player to fill the role that is actually better he is the status quo.
Yes. I have been saying this for literally years. I mean, LOL and everything but yes…with Spicer looking a bust back to the draft we go I guess.

Lots of complaints about Turner, but we should be really looking at the list and asking why someone isn't stepping up to take his spot.

Surely someone can step up with a decent amount of what Turner does deliver with a little bit of what he doesn't also.

Pretty funny reading the comments. I mean he is frustrating for sure but it's not his fault he's the only small forward on the list.

If you have no competition it's easy to be selected.

I still wouldn't mind seeing him dropped though.

I really don't get this take. In fact it drives me nuts. He isn't a small forward, he's a small bloke who for the last few weeks has gotten paid to don a North jumper and stay as far away from the ball and the contest as possible.

I don't care about his sprint efforts if he offers nothing football wise. In the last two weeks, he's averaged 5.5 disposals and 1 tackle. With a grand total of 0 shots on goal. And expended a fair bit of energy chasing not much. This talk of 'oh well no one else can play his role' is bullshit. He's done nothing. Anyone can do nothing. Put me on the team and I'll do what he does.

He is not a necessary cog. He's a great clubman, he probably follows instructions to the letter. Cool. That doesn't change the fact that, having done jack shit since R2, selection integrity should see him dropped.

Have a seven/eight man forward rotation of Stepho, CT, CZ, Larks, Comben, Cunners, Curtis and Greenwood and be done with it. Seriously, our structure is not going to fall apart because we drop him. We'll lose a minute amount of defensive running and gain a shit ton of offensive power. We should all be cool with that.

Just don't see why dangling the VFL captaincy and keeping him around the club wasn't the better option.

If we end up picking up a small forward like Ronke in the MSD it'll make it even bigger head scratcher.
i think it was an 11th hour decision. were prolly looking for another discard from another club to prop up our side with a short term contract and upon really no one after shild and howe being availavle the thought was well we may as well relist one of our own discards. the issue is tha tthere is only so much quality in the draft each year and when you get into the speculative area given the amount of dead wood we have been jettisonning for the last few years theres a compelling arguement to get a little bit of experiance back on the list.

I could see it happen when Sheezel eventually moves to the forward line, although that would require one of Bergman / Goater / TT to step into his backline role.

I know Mahony has been injured but for mine he is the one who should have stepped up and taken Turner's spot in the starting lineup 18. If he is delisted at year's end, this is the lost opportunity for Mahony.

Oh we have looked at the list and the consensus seems to be we don’t have enough quality. And up and coming youth to fill the side.

Makes me angry how we were run by people that had nfi. Honestly we could have mustered up a better bunch on BF.
They could have continued in their working day to day life and the list would be in better shape than it is now. I 100% believe that.

Hence why Kayne still plays, not great news for plenty currently struggling to break into a side that really hasn’t much hope of winning

I totally agree in regards to the embarrassment which has been list management at the Roos, particularly in relation to list balance.

Getting back to the defensive forward role though, all of Harvey, Drury, Archer should be able to find their way into that role.

Mahony, Lazaro, maybe even Perez should have worked themselves into that role.

So as embarrassing as list management has been, some blokes on the list didn't take their opportunity and now languish in the VFL or are learning to take that opportunity.

from the outside its hard to know if the root of the problem lies with the individuals or the club, likey a bit of both but its probable given the sheer frequency our recruits that appear to be talented fall by the wayside. i know some times its injury related such as harper , (he who we shalnt mention) , Garner and will walker to a lesser degree, but there are plenty of others that never got going ( mason wood) or fell off a cliff ( Aaron Black) . I know these are more distant scenarios but seems to be repeating with the likes of perez for example
