I doubt Ablett would be getting those figures at that age.
Especially after carrying the midfield for near on 10yrs.

Ablett will be an absolute gun in the twilight of his career. He will play in a side that has been orchestrated as having huge rafts of talent.

As their kids mature and Ablett gets older he will not have to carry anything.

the Gold C***s scare me with what they could develop into.

Brent Harvey is underrated.

By just about everyone.

It would be an absolute luxury if we could sit him in a pocket for 3 quarters a game if the midfield and half forward line would function without him having to play higher.

Has the ability to destroy sides with quick crumbing goals. He'd absolutely love playing at Drews feet too.

Is there are market on him getting to the most game ever?

Serious question. Is Boomer currently playing his best footy?

Whilst never being a contested beast, he seems to now be winning more contested possessions and also tackling more. I do not have stats to back this up but that is the impression that i get.

On the outside however. there is not a better player in the league IMO.

He's not having to carry the side. He has the support now to really show what he can do and not have to be the heart and soul on his own.

My thoughts exactly.

There is that and they will be able to carry one of the best ever through the twilight of his career with a midfield manufactured to create success in a market the AFL wants success in.

F***ing scary.

Surely only injury would stop this from happening.

This is why if there is a market it might be worth having a punt

He has been criminally underrated for a majority of his time in the league

Here are two sets of stats, averages for career:

21 Disposals (13 Kicks, 8 Handballs), 4 Marks, 1.2 Goals, 2 Tackles.

25 Disposals (13 Kicks, 12 Handballs, 3 Marks, 1.3 Goals, 4 Tackles.

The first set is Boomer. Who do you think the second is?

Jason Daniltchenko?

Surprised no one has mentioned how beneficial Dal Santo has been for Boomer in this thread. Having that extra outside mid has really helped take the pressure off him. He isn't our only creative outlet anymore. That being said, he has definitely improved his defensive effort with tackling and contested ball winning. Remarkable really. Career best form!

Can't wait for the Boomer DVD at the end of his career. Would love to watch all those goals in a row on repeat.
Not trying to be smart, and agree can't wait for the highlight reel (actually I can wait, hopefully at least another 3-4 years away), but what I was gaoing to say was, do you think it might stretch over 2 dvds, if they show all the running goals for a start, there's 2 hours right there.

I really want a telemovie.

Pfft. Only 2 career hit outs. Get rid of him. ;)

Seriously though, one of my favourite blokes to watch 20 games of the year. ALWAYS smashes us.

RD 11: "Jeez I hope Boomer beats Tucky's games record."
RD 12: "FFS BOOMER WILL YOU JUST ******* RETIRE."

Mate, you just took a big step towards turning my mind around on Richmond supporters... well done.

No question for me, in my eyes Boomer is the GOAT. If we were picking a team from VFL/AFL players of any day or era, he would be my first picked every day of the week. In this kind of form he's a lock to run over Tuck's record, and I hope he does it without ever being the sub too just so we don't have to deal with any of those bloody "ooh he only did it as the sub" comments from the media. Our boy Boomer is simply the best and there'll never be another like him, everyone else can go home.

My sentiments exactly, Tucky wouldn't say boo but KB would remind everyone every second day if he broke it with the help of being sub.

As a point of interest, not that I consider the "AFL Player Ratings" to be even marginally well thought out, Boomer is currently the competition's 5th best player behind Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood and Dangerfield in those Ratings. He's a chance to catch Dangerfield and Selwood too if he keeps up this kind of form, Ablett and Pendlebury have pretty solid grasps on 1 & 2.

What's more interesting though is that while Boomer is 5th on the list, an apparent typo has him ranked at no. 1. I feel comfortable in saying this is the most inadvertently accurate typo of all time.

Averaging 26 disposals a match at 77.7%, 1.2 goals, 2.8 bounces, 2 clearances a match all at the ripe young age of 36. Ridiculously good. It was interesting about a year ago on the main board comparisons were made between him and the likes of Crawford, Riccuto, Buckley, Voss etc and not many people rated him overly highly at all.
Maybe they don't rate him because he hasn't won a brownlow like the rest (big deal), and they have obviously forgotten that he is a premiership player, amazingly that was 15 years ago!

Ablett's twilight years will push it up because he won't have to carry Gold Coast.

I expect his average disposals to blow out somewhat.

Unless they sit him in the goal square in which case the goals column will.

Not to take anything away from Boomer, I love him.

I wonder if Carey's recent bagging of Boomer has a tinge of jealousy to it.

Once Boomer has hung them up there is the very real chance that he could be looked at as our greatest ever.

Don't get me wrong Carey was a once in a generation player. He also pushed the club to the brink of tearing itself apart. Those little legs of Boomers carried this club through some very dark times.

We get another flag before he hangs them up and the question ain't so cut and dry. When you look at all of what the men brought to the club.

Yeah, it wasn't to say Boomer was a better player. But on stats, there is four handballs a game between them.

Ablett is being mentioned as the possible greatest of all time and Boomer wouldn't be given a second thought.

It has been a privilege to watch him for the last 18 years.

Not saying Boomer is better as well but bring out the assists stats and I wonder how much Boomer will be leading that.
