Do you think we should remind them that their captain once squealed to the AFL about the rough treatment he was getting from a North tagger?

Naaaaaaaahhh, let them enjoy their moment.

It's a wonder he didn't try to take his eyes out!

Nah, don't laugh, Jarrad Waite is a bad mother****er.

am i missing something?, did a carlton player come out and say we're going to try and intimidate your players, or has boomer just brought this up out of the blue...
I think there are 2 factors :

* the Blues stated that they had set out to intimidate Watts & Davey last week (probably nothing new there, other than the fact they stated it)

* since the Dogs game, it's been noticeable that the umps have seen several 'behind play' frees, all against North forwards or defenders......maybe Boomer is just trying to make the point that North players aren't the only ones willing to niggle their opponents off the ball.

Where as Boomer just stomach punches players around the ball up and gets nothing for it.

I can't see any North players tough enough to stand up to our tactics if we employ them. It will be even worse if we kick a few goals early as you've shown to drop the bundle pretty easily this season already.

I bet Ziebell , Swallow , Pratt , Firrito , Greenwood and Cunnington will be terrified of running into the likes of Gibbs , Carazzo , Houlihan and Joseph .

Maybe even all 6 of those North guys might pull a heartstring and ask to be left out of the game eh ?

You are spot on, as a club we should toughen up and stand up more to clubs who employ dirty tactics like paying players outside of the salary cap.

Take note Euge and JB.

I have to say I respect Brent Harvey as a fantastic footballer, but these comments are just way off the mark for a number of reasons.

1. We were hardly employing ''rough up tactics'' against the dees. We tagged Davey with Carrazzo and Carrazzo was tight and tough as usual, but there was certainly no illegal off the ball incidents. Jack watts was just outplayed and his soft as butter anyway/overated atm.

2. I find it hard to accept these allegations coming from a team who notoriously used ''rough up'' tactis against the dogs and were widely condemned for it.

3. Your coach was probably the biggest employer of rough up tactics going around when he was playing, he built his career on being the rough up king with his brother. I wonder what he thinks of these comments?

4. Brent Harvey has been known to 'TRY' and dish out his own dirty tactics with sneaky cheap shots (been reported for it).

Oh and I look forward to the 'Kangaroos' trying their rough up tactics on Waite, Sentanta, Robinson, Judd, Carrazzo, Scotland, Jacobs, etc.

Anyway, I hope u do come out to ''intimidate'' us, it's exactly what the dees did against us and their horrible first quarter lost them the game. :thumbsu:

One would think you'd concentrate on just playing hard and effective football.

Could you post a link to us saying that, i think you will find it was the media not Carlton. Melbourne came out and tried and gave away a heap of free's.

I hope Carlton do not get sucked into this crap because the free will be paid and most of them in the forward half.

It was brought up when Robinson was spotted having a go at Eddie Betts for making a friendly gesture towards Davey at 1/4 time. One of your players (Gibbs?) was quoted as explaining they had made a decision to target Davey, so Betts' gesture was counter-productive.

I'm not suggesting it's a big deal, every team does it every week.

I'm just puzzled that it's overlooked, except when North targets poor little Barry Hall.

Get your facts straight. Apart from Scott Thompson employing a tactic no worse than what was applied (with no consequence) by McGrath on Saturday night, there were no "notorious" "rough up" tactics employed against the Bulldogs (unless North somehow cleverly conspired to ensure that Gia and Addison clashed heads). The whole thing was a beat up by Eade in order to protect Barry the headcase. Unfortunately, people who didn't see the game, such as your good self and apparently most of the football media have adopted the "Rocket said it, therefore it happened" attitude. Sheep.

As for the likes of Waite (serial sniper), Sentanta (kicker), Robinson (appears to be much tougher off the field, after a skinfull of p*ss), Judd (serial gouging, mercenary flog), Carrazzo (maybe he strikes fear into the heart of T.W. Sherrin, the way he butchers their products), Scotland (also does his better work off field, booze-assisted), Jacobs (WTF is this guy?????), etc we're really crapping ourselves at the thought of fronting them tomorrow night. Apart from last year's game which we lost through abysmal kicking, you guys have been our bitches for a number of years. I can smell the fear.

The only fear is coming from your captain.

That's bullshit - media beat up. They could find not one example of what Eade was talking about. He either did it to help Hall get off his charges, or just being soft on their part.

Harvey is trying to fire up the young kids I reckon, and attract a bit of umpire attention to his opponent. Nothingh much in it.

I can't actually ever remember a Carlton player intimidating North and I have seen a few games over the years.

1) Kekovich punching **** out of Walls and Crosswell back in the 70's
2) Clarko fixing up Aitken, D-Mac punching Rhys in the head half a dozen times, Law nearly putting Kernahan over the fence.
3) Jimmy Krakouer punching out Curly Austin in the North social club.
4) Carey K.Oing Dean Rice and making him spin 360 degrees.

Even the toughest Carlton blokes from the Bloodbath Grand Final claimed North were the toughest team of that era.

Now all of a sudden Jarrad Waite, Mitch Robinson and a bloke named Santa are going to intimidate us? I don't think so.

Yeah, we're such an intimidating, brutal team.
