He was pretty bloody good, surprised it was only 12 touches (predictive text wanted to turn "suprised" into "super dildo", I so nearly posted that instead)
predictive text is based on stuff you type a lot so you probably don't want to go around admitting to stuff like that...

like the old guys who complain about all the ads for womens underwear they see online

Coming soon to the bomber shop.
seems fitting after Ridley's 69th game

Its not like that all I swear, I just dropped my phone down some stairs and the words appeared on my screen 👀

I love this guy. Super annoying towards the opposition, persists with the team game for 4 quarters and pounces on his opportunities for goal when they come up.

Another player where you see him on the field and you wonder how he didn't come into the system through the standard pathways. Trades for a future 4th rounder, SPP selections and mid season drafting have been kind to us over the last couple of years.

Just wait until all those first round picks we have are fit and playing!

Agree, he’s got a good tank and works hard. Snelling, Durham, Martin, and Menzie all have good tanks and work hard… all hits!

He just finds the ball extremely easily in the 50. Hopefully with more experience this would be a 4 goal game instead of a 2 goal game.

I didn’t think much of him last year but like what he’s done so far in 2023. He also looks 3-4 cm above the 180 he is listed at.

In his first two games this year (3rd and 4th for his career), he's averaging 10 stats, 2 goals, 3.5 tackles and applies constant pressure. And he's a surprisingly good marking target for his size. This is what we've wanted from a forward pocket for quite a long time.

Starts off well but goes missing far to often

5 possessions in the first quarter (0 tackles) only goal
1 in the second (1 tackle)
2 in the third (2 tackles)
0 in the last quarter (0 tackles)

He provides something, I like him. Has endeavour, he has intent and has a go but just missing that final polish to make it all work. Hoping the fitness builds over the year because you can see there is a player.

Still a bit off with adapting to the speed of AFL I think. That happens.

I wouldn't be against sending Jye back to the VFL the next week or two, just to give him bit of a break, but he certainly shows us something.

with lack of small forwards probably sees him stay in.

How far away is Tippa? Tadpole concussion concerns. Guelfi missed through injury. Snelling is not fit yet?

Keep him in. Too good for VFL

I agree, I think we need to persevere with Menzie and Davey. Get the other pieces in place in the forward line around them, and try to also fix the delivery into the forward line.

Been on the Menzie train since he was first spotted last year. You have to respect small forwards that get their goals from lots of different avenues, not just getting out the back. He is solid and strong, super hard to knock off the ball, clean hands in traffic, gets on the lead and surprisingly good overhead in contested situations.

Have seen other teams have these dynamic small forwards who mark the football like Jamie Elliott, Toby Greene. It's a great dimension to add into a forwardline. Maybe Essendon haven't had a great one since Darren Bewick? Kyle Reimers excepted obviously.

Not saying JM is that good yet, but he's that type of player.
