That is true but it was a VFL practice game for gods sake
hopefully this is relevant - from what I've seen he hasn't done a lot as yet to suggest it is ....

Thats actually interesting. Surely this doesnt happen in the AFL? They miss a AFL match but I would think they are still eligible for the Brownlow. Even if it wasnt a practice match.

If he is homesick, it could explain why he got so punchy. He could be under a lot of stress.

Posted on Instagram that he was at the airport saying Goodbye to Melbourne, I imagine that's exactly what the club have let him do.
Off for interviews with WA clubs...
Good luck to him! Hopefully a week or so at home will clear his head!

This is a joke him going home for a holiday right.
People getting very worked up over nothing imo. When's the first game of the VFL season? Not next weekend obviously so heading home to touch base with the family & friends is a good idea if true. He probably needs some support after being the disappointment of being suspended and the rigours of the preseason. Aborignal kids need as much support as possible early on. They value family and community even more than the average kid, especially if they have had to move to the other side of the country.
I don't think we need to go into Chicken Little mode quite just yet. Give him some time if he needs it and get Bolton & Rioil to keep calling/communicating with him to keep letting him know he has friends and a footy family here in Melbourne, and he will come back stronger than before. Unfortunately this is the risk you take with Aboriginal boys.
I'm sure its just a quick trip to rechange the batteries before he returns to become a 200+ game star for the club

He had his knee heavily strapped and came off after trying to warm up as the boys warmed up after half time. Probably wouldn't play next weeks praccy match anyway so my guess is the club is giving him a chance to have a break both physically and mentally.
People realise that Hogan spends a lot of time in Perth as part of his contract with the Dees? Nothing wrong with Shai going back either.
