He has great balance and is tough. Needs to continue to build his tank and get stronger.

I’m not so sure he will have a break out year. He looks like the type to improve year on year. I reckon by the time he’s hitting his prime years he’ll be a very productive player.

I rate Will. Just needs to continue getting games.

LDU, TT, Wardlaw all have more elite attributes and game breaking abilities to offer than Will does, but I feel you'd only want 2 of the 3 in the center at any one time. If he can be the 4th or 5th string midfielder in our rotations with him and Jy doing the dirty work and releasing the dangerous run and carry options whilst occasionally getting on the outside to deliver his pinpoint I50's he'll be super important to our team moving forwards. 25 touches and a couple of goal assists a game is where I see Will tracking too. Also you're only as good as your last game and Will's last game was a corker.

One thing Will is better than jy is his ability to handball above peoples feet and not torch the footy by foot. Jy is the player whose time is up.

He would 200% know that his spot in side (if not already) is in serious jeopardy.
Might be a good thing for him to finally show his true talent

First possession mids: Simpkin, Powell, Wardlaw and Phillips

Second possession mids: LDU, Thomas, McKercher

Wings: Scott, Stephens, Stephenson, Shiel
Agree with this with the caveats

1. I'm more than happy with Powell, Wardlaw and Phillips having the ball on outside as well as doing the dirty work. Jy can kick goals on the run but his disposal to teammates when he's had time and space has been average the last couple of seasons.

2. LDU, Wardlaw and Thomas are players capable of turning their first possessions into the equivalent of a 2nd post clearance possession by their burst and tackle evading abilities. Having more than 1 player capable of this is in a midfield group is great news for us, if only 1 player goes to stop them they're a good chance to get clear and if they start getting swamped as soon as they take possession then they only need to get the ball to the outnumber on the outside.

On your second point, it’s why I think Phillips is greatly limited in comparison.

Doesn’t have the power (LDU), the ferocity (Wardlaw) or the evasiveness (Thomas).

He needs to become an elite runner, otherwise he’s well down the pecking order (and falling).

Want this kid to really breakout, because he seems to be a great character and really brought into the club.

He’s had a terrible run at it.

Hoping that he is a slow burn like Swallow was and when it clicks he turns into an A Grader.

He’s become a bit of a forgotten man with all the talent coming in around him.

He’ll be a forgotten man at the end of next year, if he doesn’t at least play most if not all games. We will probably get another gun mid next year with our first pick so he’s running out of time.

lol, as if anyone could call will a forgotten man with the level of scrutiny he gets on here
Its ****ing nuts. We’ve run out of shit players and whipping boys they’ve reverted to a potential A grade midfielder. LOL ****ing lunatics

Oh stop it, Jy would walk into every clubs best 22. Yes his 2023 wasn't flash, he knows that and is working his arse of to do better in 24. I get grief on here, but some of the rubbish that gets talked about on BF leaves me shaking my head.

Not directed at you, just a general comment.

63.7% de in 22 71% de in 23? You having a laugh or what? Jy is not a premier midfielder.

And DE is a funny stat because if you kick long and if its not a turn over it counts as a positive disposal. He’s ****in shit. He handballs at running midfielders feet, he’s pushed off the ball. He’s done his job, should be looking at trading him out end of 2024/25

Interesting article in Today’s HUN giantroo that looks at the difficulties of the 2020 Covid Draft with 13/60 or thereabouts DELISTED from Clubs

Covid wrecked many things but if there’s a Draft to get off the back of it is 2020
We blaming China now for kids not knowing how to train & develop skills?

Did jy say recently he’s doing some more stuff in the forward line or did I make that up?
I think a number of us have called for this for a while and I think that’s where he’s best suited so I hope that’s what’s happening

Haven’t heard that, wouldnt one think with our forward/mid recruiting lately he is the one at risk? Not phillips? I seriously see Jy the first to be pushed out of the middle. If anyone needs a big 2024, its Jyza.

Phillips will be fine he’ll increase his output from last season, it’s inevitable. He’ll have further growth and continue to become a cemented midfielder in a premiership team.
