More than happy to be proven wrong. He is a little bit of a forgotten man at the moment but he might be the icing on the top if he can produce the goods. Hopefully he can carry on from his last game. Its a start.

I still wish we had’ve merged with Fitzroy. Would have been perfect IMO.

What name would you be in favour of?
I still recall how I hated the proposed long name “North Melbourne Fitzroy Kangaroos” or “Fitzroy North Melbourne Kangaroos”. And I don’t think too many would be in favour of Fitzroy Kangaroos or North Melbourne Lions.

Apart from AFL railroading it, the naming question was never resolved at the time

Time for Wil to pull his finger out this year. No more excuses. The other kids will go by him soon. Harsh but true
Will always pulls his finger out. He has been very unlucky with things well outside of his control. If he doesn't make the grade it won't be for lack of trying.

No one has forgotten Will, every day people are in this thread saying he’s a sh*tman, a bust or not up to AFL standard.

Needs a proper break out game. Some would argue he got brownlow votes in final game of the year but we had a lot of good players that day and the votes could have gone to many. By break out I mean BOG on ground

Seems like lots of people on here are waiting for him to fail. I really like what he has to offer. He won't win us a flag off his own boot but he'll be a vital cog in our next premiership team.

I had him as our best in the first Essendon game, even discounting that absolute fluke of a goal

Pull his finger out?

Did you watch Will last year?

He dominated some games.....GC, Ess, Pies come to mind.

He struggled in some games.....But he is a young player....He is not alone there....

He is tracking upwards and getting better.

Personally, I am happy with that.

Will got Brownlow votes in his last game.

So you're actually wrong in the short term too.
Brownlow votes are a weird and wonderful thing. How Horne Francis got 16 votes beggars belief. I don't recall Carey or Ablett senior polling that many votes in a season too often if at all. (Actually Carey once in 1993 16 votes)

Will should get plenty of opportunity this season. Clarko has always had one of his type in his midfield in the past so he will be given every opportunity.

Didnt pick him round 1 last year.

I worry for Phillips. I think its 50/50 he is on the list in 2025. Big chance to be traded.

I like him, but we are just so heavy through the midfield, and he is a fair way behind a couple of the others (LDU, TT).

He has an opportunity as a point of difference, Lachie Neale type, but he needs a big 2024. No question.

Improvement is all I want, that should be the focus of the entire list. I thought he was tracking ok, considering he missed so much.

When all these boys are able to hit targets when the game is on the line, then we have something. Will isn't going to be the number one target for our ruck next year, so we shouldn't be expecting him to get huge numbers, but his hard work in close and more consistent disposal (and also more fitness to be a part of more link up chains) is going to be really important.

By "pull his finger out" I hope you don't mean work harder. He's had a lot of bad luck but never stopped giving himself every opportunity to get the best out of himself.

He was still recovering from illness and injury in round 1. He wasn't available for senior selection, it had been decided weeks out.

Will Phillips is among the least of our problems, I can't wait to watch him the next couple of years.
