Yes he was good, the slower pace and poor skills of VFL footy suited him.

I'd bring in Davies & Hansen Jnr before I'd look at Phillips.
Nah

You weren't at the game live were you ?

Did you listen to his 1/4 time and 3/4 time infield coaching to his midfield group.

Poor skills

Seriously he led the midfield group

Just stop

Simpkin and Phillips have both shown that they have the capabilities of playing solid AFL footy. Both have had their setbacks, and for some reason they have both, including 90% of the rest of the team have gone backwards in terms of development compared to last year.

Yes it’s frustrating but we have them both on the list until the end of the year so what is the point of coming online every day and wasting your energy s**t canning them and getting worked up about it.

There is nobody else in the reserves who is busting down the door to be selected afaik so just chill and let it play out ffs

Simpkin is a two-time B & F winner and will be on our list well beyond the end of this season. He has had a tough start to the year after suffering a heavy concussion in the pre-season but **** me the reaction of some on here is massively over the top. I thought his second half against the Saints was the best footy he has played all year and no one can watch it and say he wasn't hacking a crack.

I didn't say he had poor skills, I said the poor skills of VFL football, and I also said the slower pace of the game suited him.

Which both are true.

The Phillips cheerleaders are in full swing because he played well in his element. Phillips' ceiling will forever be VFL.
Ive seen him play quality AFL games. You’re flat out wrong. Just like the rest of the senior players, down on form. Half the team don’t look like AFL players, until they go to another club.

Shoot me for wanting a young roo midfielder to succeed.

You’re ****ing demented wishing ill performances on a kid.

For **** sake look at him! He's small, not strong, slow and has sloppy disposal with no penetration in his kicking. Sure he's played a few half decent games at AFL level but so have a lot of VFL players who have had a handful of opportunities at AFL level. The one standout trait he does have is leadership which is one of the reasons we drafted him.

since when do you have to be 195 cm’s to be a gun midfielder?

If he has played half decent (your way to minimise a quality performance cognitive dissonance) games as a sub 21 tear old he can certainly play better games as a mature midfielder.

You should be backing him in, not shitting on him. He is still young. The year is a quarter way through. FMD

He kicks a footy with weight. He hits up targets nicely. He’s down on form. He’s not isolated

Sloppy disposal 🤣 mate he’s one of the few you can count on less than one hand who could comfortably hit someone if50

Did he rip it apart in the VFL?

We should only be bringing him in on the back of a game where he has absolutely dominated.

Every time he comes back after only being serviceable in the VFL he’s gone again in a couple of weeks.

Bring him back when his confidence is sky high and see if he can convert that to the top level.

Of dominating the vfl is a prerequisite we would be running out with 13 blokes in the ones.

Agree.

But with this bloke it just isn’t working.

He needs to dominate and be dog hungry to get that spot back, so when he comes back up he is in the best position to retain that spot.

At the moment he is yo-yoing on and out which will do him more harm than good.
