Hopefully we get over 50k there so it’s worth having at the G.
Hayes is a better competitor and built for finals for mine, plus he is a genuine second ruck. Sharman is more flakey, and less competitive, even though is probably a bit more adaptable. I’d play big hayes. Ross comes in for me if fit, he just seems to give us better balance through the middle of the ground when playing. So he is either in for Clark and Clark to sub, or in for Clark and Byrnes to stay sub, as he did such a good job of it, and he will love the big expanses of the G.
I’m hoping:
In:king, Ross
Out: Sharman, Clark
Byrnes stays as sub

Someone told me the afl have some deal with MCC, first 3 Melbourne games at G first round until 2030.

Not sure how true that is.

So because 1 game at Gabba we have to fill the slot,
If there had have been 3 games at G already we would have been at marvel?

Yeah, the G has a minimum amount of finals fixtures that have to be filled as part of the contract.

Looking like a heart attack possibility according to Jon Pierek in the Age (first I've heard about a "jammed" knee for Max King)

Elimination final

St Kilda v Greater Western Sydney. MCG, 3.20pm, Saturday, September 9

Season results:
R10: St Kilda 13.14 (92) d Greater Western Sydney 12. 8 (80) at Giants Stadium.

Injuries

St Kilda:
Max King (jammed knee) was managed in round 24, but will return next week. Seb Ross (low-grade hamstring), Zak Jones (knee) and Dougal Howard (broken wrist) will need to prove their fitness. Hunter Clark (corked leg) is expected to be fit. Josh Battle has joined Anthony Caminiti in concussion protocols.

GWS: Sam Taylor (hamstring) was a late withdrawal on Sunday. Finn Callaghan (achilles) also faces a fitness test.

The verdict: The Saints have been in the top six for all but one game this season, and head into September having won four of their past six games.

Under Ross Lyon, they have greater resolve defensively, while Jack Sinclair and Brad Crouch have been magnificent. But do the Saints have enough midfield quality for a deep September run?

The athletic King is the man who can drag this side to at least one win.

“I think we go in good order to whoever we play, wherever we play and we’re really looking forward to it. The real season is starting, this is just qualifying,” Lyon said.

Sinclair had 37 touches and King booted four goals when these teams last met.

For the Giants, Adam Kingsley should be commended for inspiring a side many thought was headed to the bottom rungs of the ladder.
In Toby Greene, the Giants have a man built for September.

A strong defence led by Taylor, and a midfield boasting a reborn Stephen Coniglio and Tom Green, have the Giants well positioned.

Can Jesse Hogan deliver a bag of goals?

Early tip: St Kilda by one point.

Ross said King had the knee issue, that's where it's come from.

We deserve to not be trusted, it's been a very long time since we've been relevant. Winning big games is the only thing that can fix that.

And anything less then 50k means it’s just stupid to be at the G

35k at marvel and we can and have made the place tremble.

Just dumb dumb dumb scheduling.

Lots of theatre goers for finals at the G.

MCC & AFL members wanting to get some value for their subs.

3.20pm is a great time for families too.

We’ll get over 50k.

Absolutely pumped its at the G!

3.20 mate...don't want you to miss Kings 5 goals in the first quarter!

I planned a huge gathering of old school mates - a miracle in itself, it’s impossible to get everyone together - for this day, this time 😭😂😭😂
Sort ya life out. First it's gramps shindig and now this ffs

Got to admit, also pretty surprised people are unhappy with playing at the 'G in a Final. It's where you want to be, and me thinks the woodwork will be sufficiently vacated.

In terms of the forwards, Sharman seems the more suitable foil for the Max and Membrey duo IMO, he plays a more versatile role for us and I think it's valuable to have that element of unpredictability (especially with the space of the 'G). To me it seems those 3 had more positional and role cohesion. You wouldn't be unhappy with Hayes though either.

It was Lyon mentioned Max's 'knee' situation and it sounded like nothing... the clip of him taking the piss of the media setup at the Gabba is quality. As he's walking in for the post-game looking at the table and chair setup, which resembles something you sit at in front of a tent, it's all "gee-whiz, not a very inspiring chair is it... certainly not Marvel stadium, it's like a pre-school" 😂

Wilkie on Greene is the make or break IMO.

Take him out and we win this comfortably.
I wouldn't say it's all about Greene. GWS's midfield is firing in all cylinders at the moment with a dominant ruck in Briggs, Tom Green, Ward, Coniglio very good in the clinches and Kelly, Whitfield, Daniels very good on the spread. Their defence is also rock solid. I rate them as the most difficult opponent of the 5-8 range.
