Autopsy 2nd Semi Final, 2020: Richmond v St.Kilda

Battle and Membrey play as Talls. Parker and Marsh aren't at a high enough standard. And Mayo yet to be sighted so who knows, I think he is quite tall though. I want a player like the size of De Goey, Dangerfield or Martin. A player that is awkward to match up on. All our forwards are either key position or short people.
Regarding Parker its his 2nd season and had an interrupted pre season. Was our 3rd best forward in his 1st season. Has the tools

Lynch cops a fine for the knee.

Lynch nothing for the elbow

Cotchin nothing for the sling by the neck

Well, you could knock me down with a feather. Who would have thought the MRO would have come to that finding????

I wonder if the club sends a “please explain” about these incidents and the arc?

After reviewing the footage on Saturday, Match Review Officer Michael Christian charged the star forward with his second misconduct charge of the season, resulting in the fine.

Despite it being Lynch’s fourth off-the-ball incident this season

Nothing to see - move on - $750

If that's the case our president needs to come out and tell it how it is, that it's not on that our player gets sling tackled by the neck with no repercussions.

Next time we face those campaigners, its time to get our own justice then.

Give cotchin his own medicine.

I'd love to see someone line him up and hit them both fair and square with a hip and shoulder like the old days.

If one of them is chasing one of our guys lay the mother of all shepherds.

Let's see how they like it back the other way. The difference is, we will do it when they are actually looking

Need Hamill to teach them how to hit people hard but fair.

Ok morning after, a few thoughts.

Please nobody take this as an attack on their opinions, emotions are raw but here we go.

1) Richmond is a battle hardened premiership team. They had lost the week before and knew what they needed to do to win. They bullied us physically and took advantage of their experience and what is required to win at the pointy end. Sure we won against the Bulldogs but it was like a H&A game. Last night the pressure went through the roof. We weren't far off, but we were beaten by a more advanced team.

2) Hardwick in his presser said it was a big boys game. Could not agree more. Bring it or go home and plan for next season. They were tough, they played dirty. They were very fortunate we didn't get goals from the Cotchin tackle or the Kent push. But the experience we got from what happened to us will hold us in good stead going forward.

3) Suspensions. Lynch will not get suspended in my opinion. His hit on Paton was in a marking contest, again the umpires failed in their job, it was obviously high, and they immediately got a goal from it. I don't see how that is reportable. The knee was dirty and should have been a double 50, but it was to the shoulder not the head, in my opinion.
Cotchin is different .The potential to cause injury was not medium but high IMO. Play had stopped, Jones picks up the ball, gets hit high, then slung. He should got for a week. The incompetent AFL has set a precedent, let see if they apply it.

4) Here is a thought. Remember back to our last game last year as our players trudged off the SGC beaten by 50 odd points to finish 14th.

How did you feel about the direction of the club?

Now go forward to last night after our players walked off in a second semi final, not quite matching it with the potential premiers, but making a good account of themselves in trying circumstances. if results go our way, we finish 5th.

A long jump from 14th to 5th. The hard stuff is yet to come, to win it basicallly you need to be top four. We need to take that step. Loved Ratten last night saying he challenges the players basically, do you want to be a good AFL footballer or do you want to be a premiership winning player. Thats all that needs to be known.
Also love that we, as a club, are not basking in our 'relative' success. Immediately after the game we had Ralph who had been talking to Lethers during the day saying we are going after more quality with fat stacks. Then we had Rats in the presser saying we have identified weaknesses in our team and will address them. Not an hour after bowing out, the work has begun. Big tick, that is the attitude and culture of a club that knows its limitations, and what it needs to do.
We have some mighty fine operators at the club.

5) A parting thought. The majority of supporters have take the forward movement positively and while disappointed by last night, are pretty happy with our campaign after so long in the wilderness.

Just remember Melbourne 2018. The hard work starts now.

GO SAINTS.

Couldn't agree more.

No chance we will do a Melbourne, this club is made of stronger stuff and we have better people at the helm.

But us fans have to realise that improving and moving into that upper echelon and avoiding the Demon Drop means hard sacrifices, club favourites will have to be traded, we might even have to take take a step back to march forwards. It requires patience and consternation and a holistic approach.

I loved what Lonie gave us this year and I hate the idea of trading him, but if he's the only player who has any market value and we need picks to get what we want, or a player swap then so be it. I would rather trade Ross - yes, even after these finals - because I see him being of greater value to other clubs, but have accepted it won't happen. But favourite sons will go and we have to cut the cord. They'll be ok.

We also have to hold fire on potential recruits who don't initially seem worthy of us. Not many thought Butler Jones or Ryder would have had the impact they've had this year. I hate looking at Ben Brown's gonk head but if the club think he can be of service then I'll deal with it (please just get a hair cut Ben).

But what's important is that I have a lot more faith in our list management nowadays to know who to ship out and bring in.

I loved an earlier suggestion that we bring Billy Slater back, a bit of Sam Gilbert tackle coaching wouldn't hurt either. We can't stand around whinging about what the big boys did to us. I personally couldn't give a rat's arse if Lynch and Cootchie get punished for their onfield indiscretions. We needed to be fiercer yesterday and we were weak in the contest, weak in the tackle. Frankly we looked tired.

Time to put the warpaint on.

Onward!

I Wonder if Tom Lynch would have had the guts to push or Knee Barry Halls Head into the Ground.
And to the Commentary Puting Lynch in the Lockett Class, you are an Idiot

Barry Hall would have left Lynch eating his meals through a straw ... if his head was still intact enough to wire his face together.

Anyone else surprised at the lopsided amount of talk about Lynch as opposed to Cotchin for MRO talk out of this game

I’ve got to be honest with you, I didn’t really think that much of Lynch’s knee, seemed like a little niggle type of thing that could happen on the bottom of a contest/tackle situation a few times throughout a game, just getting up and doing something a bit grubby on the way.

But Cotchin grabbed Jones around the neck with one hand and the face with his other hand and slung him pretty hard, after play had already stopped. Pretty dirty and actually has the potential to do damage.

Yet no one in the media has really talked about it post game, and all I can see are news articles talking about Tom Lynch and how he’s in trouble today.
Agree. Didn't think the Lynch knee was a big deal, but Crotchin has always been a dirty bequiffed CLINT who I hope we meet again in a final and teach a lesson to. Before his premierships he was a joke akin to Marc Murphy, now he's unbearable. Frikin Gary Glitter looking turd.
