Luckily the India vs England Test is on at the same time, as don’t think the weather is gonna allow much cricket here

If there’s ever rain forecast leading up to a Test, you can guarantee the cricket board will be announcing the match will be a drawn washout.

Interested to see crowd numbers. Combination of day-nighter and Aus Day should entail a decent showing for the first two days but Brisbane test crowds aren't usually all that crash hot for non-Ashes tests

Geeze Cummo makes it hard to love him doesn't he.
Handsome as ****, wins ****en everything, takes bulk wickets, takes wickets exactly when we need them, clutch match winning / saving with the bat multiple times in the last 12 months alone, never been involved in any kind of off-field scandal, was brave enough to stand up to Langer who was clearly the wrong fit for the team. Gonna go with **** no he doesn't. What's not to love?

I mean its not just showers its heavy rain off a cyclone if it does hit brisbane we will be lucky to only get 30mm a day for days 3/4/5 of test, hard to predict of course but if it hits game would need to be pretty advanced after first two days to get a result.

I think he's a below average captain. He goes ultra defensive when the game is being taken away from us, with no plan B. Warney would be rolling in his grave.

Let’s not pretend Smith was some fantastic captain so what’s the alternative. I think he’s been okay, been better with a non useless coach too.

There's probably no better alternative at the moment. It just irks me that he's out of ideas when the opposition is pressing, especially when it's the Poms.

The only alternative right now is Head who needs a bit more captaincy seasoning. Cummins is killing it as captain, but no captain is perfect. I didn't like much of what I saw in the Ashes either.

I get that people might disagree with the Aust Day thing but everyone you list trumps that for me anyway. Happy to say I doubted his selection as skipper and rapt I've been proven wrong.

In actual fact I think the team of he and McDonald seem very strong, they seem to have a great plan generally speaking.

When the criticism of someone’s captaincy starts, I’m fascinated by the ‘he struggled when such-and-such is happening.’

If the captaincy from this person is otherwise really really strong, then is that weakness actually a sign that they’re a poor captain?

It’s like saying ‘well this batsman who averages 50 is a bit suspect when the ball is swinging back into him around middle and off.’ Ok fair enough, but what about when it’s everywhere else? Is the guy a good batsman or isn’t he?
