Get the thread back on topic, or I am the only one that has just hit the roof at the thought of our previously rookie listed fullback destroying all the short people in the time trial?

This is huge news, and a fantastic sign that the faith invested (after all, we did give him a senior list place after playing no games!) may reap some big rewards. We're all aware of the hole at full back, we're all aware that Spud deserves to be running off his man, and we're all aware that Scotty Thompson is still undersized.

It's good to see that they will give a few guys a crack, but I have to hope the shotgun rule applies, and Grima gets first dibs. Impressive.

Yeah loving it, if nothing else it should put the fire under the mids to take up the challenge, forget spud running off his man Grima will be the one running them ragged!

I know this is kind of tangential to the 3.2 km, but does anyone know if they are doing beep tests at training, and if so, any idea who are the standouts, doing pb's etc?

It's great for Grima that he's run the fastest time trial at the club but am I the only one who thinks that a massive tank might be wasted on a fullback?

Don't get me wrong it can't be a bad thing, but you'd really want the players covering the whole ground rather than predominantly only one third of it to be running those times.

I had that thought too, but then look at Scarlett who gets great value out of a massive tank in that position.

Gibbo is a monty for Franklin. I don't know why teams insist on playing a tall on Buddy, it's his leading speed that is the key. Gibbo keeps up with him and spoils leads, Petrie and Spud kill it in the air.

Narny Grima is for the Mooney/Lynch/Hall types. That's where your rebound can really hurt the opposition.

Why would we want a guy who is 6'4" can run all day, contested mark, long kick, has defensive skills playing in the midfield anyway?

Blue Loo is right. At no stage was I suggesting that Deans Laidleys was going to be sacked. I feel that if he isn't offered a contract extension by Round 11 that he'll go looking for new work. Just like he did last time when he was still under contract and chased the StKilda job. Anyways don't like his chances this time with the current economic crisis and that.
