Hodge and Whateley teeing off on Parish and his management on SEN.

Hodge saying that one good season doesn’t justify a 6 year contract.

“He’s simply not a player you build your club around”

Gerrard

“I’d be on my knees praying for him to leave if I’m Essendon”

Harsh
It’s reality.

You can really only make those demands if you’ve got other clubs chasing you, he doesn’t. Head in the sand stuff from Darcy and managment

I'm ok with this also
Though my fear is this is the wrong year though.
The comp pick is going to slide

Not fussed on pick, forces us to change the midfield mix, it doesn't work now so nothing to be scared of
Fair call on the pick
Not like sharp picks have turned us around and I've long held a theory sometimes you get better hunger, desire, effort from later picks because they've had to work harder for it and can't fall back on perceived talent to get by.

Again, if Geelong are interested I would drive him down the highway myself.

6 years at over $800K is a big * no, to me.
No chance Geelong are paying that. None. Zero. :)

That was actually a pretty good conversation.

Gerard was pretty harsh but is most likely right.
no one at essendon is prepared to actually have a stern conversation about stuff like this. it needs to come from outside the club & shit fluff pieces from whatever media hack needs to write something only serves to inflate his meagre worth more

Yeah look historically perhaps, but I would go easy here. The reason the deal isn’t signed is that this is likely EXACTLY the conversation the club is currently having internally.

I want Parish to stay, but I think he needs to realise his standing isn't as good as he and his management think it is.

I think he's in for a rude awakening this upcoming free agency/trade period if he think any team will pay him 800k over 6

Agree, 800 at 6 years is too steep. To get into a good club with genuine finals chances IMO he would be more likely to get 650k at 4 years.

No one is offering 6 years IMO. Are his management living off his AA year, where he is a way off esp second half of the year.

I love Parish as a player, but not at the expense of the list.

Noticed last night in Scott's presser that he didn't mention Parish at all the two times he was asked about the club's leaders setting an example.
He did say 'he's desperate to stay and we're desperate to keep him' ... but what's he meant to say there?
Personally I take more from what was omitted than what was said.

I don't think he's asking for 800pa over 6 years with a CBA automatic increase clause.

More likely it's:
  • 800pa over 5, OR
  • 700pa with an automatic CBA increase clause over 5 OR
  • 700pa over 6
