AFL Player # 3: Darcy Parish

Big deal if the club leaked.
Agents leak to the media all the time to drive their player's price up. Like I would bet every dollar that the stories re adelaide being into redman and offering more years were leaked by his side to pressure the club.

Last week he tried to kick a goal from 50m instead of looking for other options and it fell 10m short and landed right in the arms of an opposition defender for an easy turnover. If that's knowing your limitations...
The majority of the time he does. That was unusual for him and I remember saying that at the time. If Parish would even kick to his limitations half the time it would be a major improvement.

Hodge says Parish is a 'pollish' player. What sort of pollish player can hit targets by foot with any consistency? It would be like an AM who can't finish a goal or a DM who can't make a tackle.
Lol there's plenty of AMs who lack the quality to finish but are still valuable for what they bring, you can be a playmaker or a winger and don't need to be a shadow striker or whatever. Being a playermaker or winger thats elite and can finish is not that common.. It's not like early Messi and Man U Ronaldo are growing off trees....

Negotiations have been over since the 5 x 750k offer was made. Parish and his management have no leverage to try and negotiate any more. People will argue its already too much for the player. Id call it generous. Whoever at the club is making the call to say take it or leave it should be applauded and i hope they stick to it
I’m a Parish fan but he’s not obviously at Martin, Dangerfield, Petracca level.

I think it’s fair to say he’s been in our top 3 players in when his contract has been up for renewal and average to ordinary in between so let him walk if he won’t take the deal we’ve offered.

If he only wants to play for money he can sod off.

You're right, you know.

I was going to say 'pass the ball' but I was worried you'd take that out of context.

The club briefed against my client, agent tells the journo who made the initial report, who he happens to share a weekly show with.
Tom Morris, whose reputation was tanked when a recording of him making lewd remarks about his colleague became public and he got sacked by foxfooty. There’s probably an element of rehabilitating his reputation in some sense.

Also pretty sure Tom Morris has never been a knowledgeable reporter about Essendon before. We normally leak to Robbo (via the Sheedy camp), Twomey (via players especially Parish), Caro (via Mahoney?), Lloyd (former player POV & probably Mark Harvey) and Timmy Watson (Simon Madden/board?)

What’s more intriguing to me is that Lucas is Parish’s manager. Obviously a former Essendon premiership player, who is now a player manager, and managing several of our current players. I always had the impression that Essendon players end up with Lucas for a reason, in the same way that you hire Paul Connors for a reason… and probably not the same reason?

Whole thing is a bit odd isn’t it?

Outlier is we don’t know who Vozzo would leak to…

Maybe that is Adrian's new role. Chief leaker.

Lucas was fairly clear that Scott was honest.
He said, confusing everyone by talking in the third person for no apparent reason.

He's limited in his ability to look for and hit other options. I'm sure he knows it... or maybe not, 850K for 6 years please.

Would be gobsmacked if anybody comes after Parish with the offer of 5 @750.

If any top 8 clubs wanted him he would be significantly less IMO.

His last month of footy won't get them lining up.

Love him as a player but not at the expense of our list. He might just be overvaluing himself.

Scott Lucas is obviously unhappy that news of his and Darcy’s exorbitant demands have come to light and now that everyone knows and has reacted to what is a reasonable offer from the Bombers they don’t really have a leg to stand on.

At the end of the day no one is going to offer him a better deal than we have so it’s pretty much sign or be gone and good luck from here…

Lucas was a genuinely great player, but is a complete knobhead (hard to believe he's from Camperdown).
Scott is one of the best people I have met in footy.
Looks after his clients well without being over the top.
his job is to get the best deal for Darcy and the press have clearly been briefed.
I would choose either Scott for his decency or connors for his ruthlessness if I had a child playing afl
