I believe he will come good but wont be this year, He had a big injury and his pre season was limited but is a quality player that you don't lose

He is young enough to get back to a good level and as many have said our history with 1st rounders is hardly great

He has never been to the level of coghlan , Foley or brown pre injury and you could argue his injury has a lesser success rate.
He will never amount to jack shit and like 2016 with yarran it is another year of jack , Cotchin , rance and Dustin in their prime , that the club has wasted .
In regards to promising elite talent the cupboard is bare beyond Dustin

This is always my question when you say his pre-season was limited.
That's three or four straight compromised pre-seasons.
So, with his injury history, will he ever have an adequate, let alone full pre-season?

What do you consider Rioli, Markov and Vlastuin?

Not promising elite talent?

Rioli maybe, Vlastuin will be a solid b-grader but doesn't look like he'll take the next step. Markov will be lucky to be a b-grader, I have a lot of time for him but needs to develop consistency and ability to find the ball at VFL and AFL levels.

While I agree in part with this, his recruitment worries me.
A big pre-season you say? Will he ever be able to do one without breaking down?
Therein lies the problem.
He has an interrupted pre-season at least the last four.
In the cold light of day, we have given up pick six for a bloke with significant injuries, who will likely never get his body right!

Who has the better preseason, Prestia or SPS??

Rioli will do well to exceed Shed's career .
Don't see Vlaustin improving beyond his current output whilst markov will be lucky to get another contract or 20 games.
Rioli no doubt the pick of them however it is currently the worst crop of developing midfielders the club has had in 30 years.
The club has had a Knights, Campbell , Chaffey, Foley , Coughlan , Deledio , Cotchin or Martin in the wings and developing.
We currently don't have a developing mid that looks like matching the output of Chris Hyde far less being elite .

Rioli will waltz past Edwards by about season four.
PS You missed Tivendale in that bunch!

Lets see how Graham goes when he finally gets on the park..

Rioli has a great chance and is tracking well. Vlastuin will be a solid c-grader, but doesn't look like he'll take the next step to play midfield and is a glorified plodder. Markov could be a c-grader, but has a lot of work to do on his skills under pressure.

Jesus people are so negative.

Of course we don't have that many good midfielders coming through, we targetted the flanks and wings because we already have Cotchin, Martin, Vlastuin, Grigg and then went and got Prestia.

These are contradictions according to you ,yet they are the reason why people are concerned. We have targeted mids over the years if you're prepared to go through trades and drafts, sadly just picked poorly.
Also understand what the true definition of negative is as critiquing failure and drafting /trading poorly for generations are different things. Negative is more closer to people who defend constant incompetent decision making.

Big thing here is:

Corey Ellis was never going to be an inside mid
Ben Lennon won't ever become an inside mid
Reece Conca would of become a very good player, injuries prevented him from that.
Brandon Ellis was always a flank/winger on the outside.

Vlastuin will develop into a star midfielder, another pre season will put his tank at 100%.

Everyone is a hindsight hero.

If Lennon was playing like Gunston, Ellis playing like Birchall, Conca playing like Wallis and Bellis playing like Gaff nobody would bat an eyelid.

We only need one more good midfielder - go and trade for one/get them in FA.

Our forward line is diabolical and unless we fix it will prevent us from going anywhere.

HAHAHA is that you DH? Already casting off you previous 8 years of picks and batting deep on hope that an injured kid who was picked late in the draft will be a top liner. Is this BF comedy hour?

Look at you pop up and make comments from left field, isn't there enough he aint gonna make threads for you today? or we are awful threads to moan in.. It was in reply to another comment and my comment in turn was taken correctly as merely that..

For you to jump in and have a crack and call me DH, and lets be honest it was because you got schooled about a month or so ago, shows what a shallow or insecure individual, or perhaps its boredom, either way I really don't care, carry on.

We traded in or rookied CADDY, Townsend ,Moore ,Thomas,Farmer,Hislop,Petterd,Miles,Lambert Prestia and Marcon
Drafted Conca, Helbig,Macdonald,Arnot , OHanlon,Madonna, CEllis, Menadue and Drummond

As you can see we've picked up all types of mids with outside ,inside and backside credentials, but few with upside .Hence why WE all continue to still hedge our bets on Cotchin and Martin.

Do you expect every pick 40 to become a star midfielder do you?

The thread is about Prestia anyways, and he is a star carrying a major injury.

Next year if there fit and firing we will have Cotchin, Martin, Prestia, Vlastuin, Grigg and Caddy as the main midfielders.

That is a pretty good midfield, if we want to draft or recruit one then fine they can do that.

Your response has nothing to do with your ambitious or desperate suggestion that you made.Seems like you're suffering the effects from being schooled about a month or so ago by me and it is showing what a shallow or insecure individual you maybe as why would anybody even think like this is mind blowing.
