I dunno about that.

He averages just over seven intercepts a game, half intercept marks.

So another five intercepts would have helped yesterday. His two contested marks resulted in one goal but his intercept marking and spoiling is probably worth more than one goal per game.

He probably needs 15-20 goals in these last 6 games to make his value to the side worth what we lose with him on the backline. So far he has three goals and there are only four games left.
Until we develop maturity and consistency in the middle, Comben plays back.

When we have a couple more defensively-minded, running mids who can not only apply pressure like Sheeze and Wardlaw do but run hard back like Scott does, then we will have the luxury of playing Chom forward.

I'd hoped that playing Chom forward would relieve the pressure around Larkey, so that he could find more space and become more dangerous around goal. Noting that our delivery into our forward 50 has been deplorable these last few games, it's disappointing that Larkey hasn't used his aerobic ability to lead more toward the kicker.

It knows how you operate, it won't let you say a bad word about him.

Tad harsh , as I've never had or would ever have a bad word to say about Comben. That would be madness.

I rate him highly, always have and I'll go as far to say he'll be in our top 5 players and not just top 5 , but top 5 in a very good side, one in the premiership window.
I make no secret I want him playing FF and Larkey CHF.
This guy could well be the only Alpha FF in the comp. He's nasty and a tad nuts, love both of those traits.

I was being facetious, I’m well aware that he’s one of the very few players you don’t have a bad word to say about.

I’m surprised that this has not been addressed by either the coaches or the media. His constant leading back like a crumbing forward -on the whole- is not worth it for the team.

Lead to the bloody ball and give the forwards a chance.

His shoulder looks cooked. Every time he gets hit you can tell he is struggling with it. I'd prefer to get him in for surgery now and get him primed for a big pre-season. Give Maley or Sellers a few games in the back end of the year in the forward line to see if they are worth persisting with next year.

I think maybe we've got Larkey and Chom backwards on the whiteboard. Larkey should be the one playing up around the arcs taking marks leading into space and delivering it inside 50 or using his accuracy to nail long goals, Charlie should be playing out of the goal square because he's the one who attacks the ball like a maniac and takes pack marks.

Na need to play him next 2 weeks to notch 2 more wins. Let him sit out last 2 rounds

Larks a far superior field kick too.

He is Carey-like with his leaps at the ball in the forward line. Obviously not clunking all of them like the duck, but is clunking a few and looking more and more like it with others. Keep this guy fit, and we could potentially have as good a key position player as you could want to have up there. Then it’s just up to everyone else to kick it to his advantage rather than helicopter it up as high as you can get and see what happens.

Don’t care if he’s not 100%; we need wins to build a winning culture. Is he can play, play him.
