What kind of a person is a supporter of a club for 25 years then turns around dumps them and takes up with the new club , shame on you we are better off without you . In my eyes you are another turncoat, enjoy your new club , im sure you'll cry when we slap the Suns .

As a 25 year North supporter and now proud Suns member I too am dissapointed in Hales development, I can't see us having any interest in him, his repeated form over several years shows that he simply isn't upto AfL standard.

For your sake I hope I'm wrong and he proves to be a great North player but some how I dont see it happening.

Wow kinda hoping this was a troll but suspect I'll see you the day after next Monday.

DAVID Hale's career at North Melbourne appears uncertain despite him having two years to run on his contract.

The key forward is likely to weigh up whether to stay at Arden Street to regain a permanent spot in Brad Scott's best side, or pursue greater opportunities elsewhere.

Several clubs have shown interest in the 26-year-old, who they consider to be an attractive option for either a forward or ruck role.

Hale's manager Ricky Nixon said he and the Roos knew where the other camp stood ahead of trade week, which starts on October 4.

"We've spoken to the club, he's contracted and he might still well be there but we'll just see what happens during trade week or over the next three or four weeks," Nixon told afl.com.au.

Basically what we guessed would happen.

Sounds like he will ask to be traded which of course would be no suprise.

Hale isn't that bad as a ruckman. The problem is that he's in a team with McIntosh and Goldstein.

If you compared him to the ruckmen on other teams lists he would slot straight in.

I just hope that we get reasonable compensation for him and wish him all the best.

Several clubs showing interest could mean that there could be competition for his signature. Hopefully we get a good deal because of this, but on the same token I hope that David gets to go where he wants to go.

At least he hasn't nominated any preferred club, which is good for us. I'd rather keep him as insurance, than be held to ransom by a club like Hawthorn, for example.

Sounds like the agreement is that both sides will listen to offers (if any are forthcoming) and will decide on the go. If nothing happens, both parties will be happy for him to stay.

Well summed up EH. The interesting thing is that they've gone public with where both parties are at, for the first time. I suspect that Hale's name will be mentioned quite a bit in the coming weeks, when having preliminary trade discussions with other clubs. Interstate based Victorians seeking a move back home would have to be on the possibilities list, as well as draft picks, or Hale may well find himself one piece of a multi club trade which sees a few movements for players and picks.

The good news is we're maintaining a poker face prior to trade week, rather than displaying any desperation.

As BT says above, competition for his signature will be great for us.

I don't have any issues with Hale and hope both he and the club end up pleased with whatever comes of trade week in relation to him.........and that includes if he stays. One of Goldy or Hamish going down could have us wishing we still had him on the list.

I hear what you're saying in relation to keeping him as insurance, but he's too valuable a player to be just insurance. We'd be better off trading him and getting a lower-ranked ruckman from elsewhere - either another club or someone who's running around in the VFL, WAFL or SANFL.

He should be a number 1 ruckman, somewhere.

He was 22ish when he was starting to show a lot of promise in the ruck before Hille caved his face in, then after that McIntosh got the #1 ruck spot and for the last 2 or so years has been developed as a key forward which isn't what he is best suited for. He is a ruckman who can go forward and pinch hit which is a very good thing to have, a lot of ruckman are dead useless anywhere else.

He would be good to keep as a backup in case of injury, but it is probably not what is in the best interest of Hale.

I agree big_e. I didn't say I want him kept for insurance sake. That's the fallback position we'd find ourselves in if adequate compensation can't be found in exchange for Hale's services, and if so, it's not that bad for us.

He'll go somewhere. Where he wants to go, and what they have for us, are the issues.

I hope David gets an outcome he is happy with. Personally, I have no problem with keeping him on the list as a back up, especially if he is OK with that situation, and will stay motivated. On the other hand, if he does want more opportunity, it would be great to see him getting a good go in the ones next year, and it is a nice year for up to pick up an extra selection in the first half of the draft...

Not a Hale hater either, 200cm + blokes that can kick and mark over head don't grow on trees.I'd rather we keep him if we're only offered a pick between 35-50. **** 'em, he's a good footballer and he's ours!

Seems a real waste to keep Hale as a depth player for both parties.

Either Mac or Goldy could be # 1. Goldy has rucked all day before.

North are at the point where even if one of rucks were injured - Petrie could play forward and pinch hit as backup.

North would be better served shuffling the talls and giving Tarrant, O'Keefe, Black, Kennedy, Daw, Delaney a game if one of our rucks was injured instead of Hale.

My vote would be to trade Hale for a pick and pick up a ruck late in the draft.

Hale would be best served playing ruck every week in the AFL. Not FF and not coming up for the 2s to impact a game enough to hold his spot.

I have to agree with this.

Hale should be traded to the club he wish's for whatever we can get.

We have enough in Goldy, Monster and the other talls you mentioned to cover the loss of Hale plus any injuries to Goldey or Monster.

Wouldnt read to much into Nixon talking bout other clubs having an interest in Hale.
He is just trying to boast his chances of getting a trade for his client.

I will accept anything inside the top 30 picks.

And Hale cant take an overhead mark lol.

Why would he care? Hale is on contract for 2 more years.

hale+2nd rounder for mundy.

Hale+3rd rounder for salopek.:thumbsu:

I'd be sorely pissed off if our club started packaging any of our picks with David Hale in trade deals. Especially given the gold that's been turning up on our list in the last couple of drafts

For once we're in a position to be demanding plenty in return for our bloke! Given the obvious level of interest in the big fella, we need someone with the cahones to broker us a winning deal.

Euge! Get onto it

The biggest problem in terms of selling Hale is that he couldn't hold a place in our team. We all know why but the facts are that he played most of the year in the twos. That devalues him immediately and we would be lucky to get a pick around the early 20s IMHO. He needs to go and at least he is on contract so that gives us a bit of bargaining leverage. This trade, if it happens, will be very interesting to watch.

It certainly devalues him in the bigfooty community. Even a lot of posters on this board undervalue him because of it. I don't expect it has quite as large an effect on the football departments of potential trading partners though :thumbsu:

Depends whether you are buying or selling. ;)
