love the excuses people make. Oh but it's this, oh, but its that

nope. some players are just injured and cannot cope with the rigours of AFL football. We just suck at identifying key position players
Yep
Reid has olayed double than that already, so must be on track then

He has played 63 games total.... so I don't know how you got to 70 in 3.5 years.
You know, Maths and all.

Yeah, he has been stellar. I mean watching him defend like a caravan with the best of them with quiet amazement.
So hang on Reid’s body will hold up because another player in the league played less games earlier in his career. Must be how it works.

By the end of the year he will have played 70 game.

Not saying he’s a superstar but as a FA and a position of need I don’t see why not. Would clearly be our best lockdown KPD. Who’s better at our club??

If you’re going to quote something from me then then tell me to make sense, don’t go saying things that I didn’t say. When did I say we will or should trade Reid? Mckay take Reid’s spot? Where did I say that.
Make sure when you quote me you quote something I say
Why did you bring up McKay in this thread then?

There it is knew something was coming with no details for a while. Anyone who says no to Ben McKay is kidding themselves
Was your intention that we should borrow McKay for a few months while Reid is recovering from his hamstring, or perhaps play them both next year in the same backline, because of Reid's hamstring?

Please stop derailing this thread with nonsense. I have asked you to stop, and I've directed you to an appropriate thread. This is your last warning.

I brought up McKay because of the latest injury news to Reid. McKay is a RFA at the end of the year and plays the same position as Reid who has been injured regularly. Don’t know how it’s irrelevant or a reason to get banned?

Agree with most. Nothing to gain by cutting him now. See what the surgery does. I hope for his sake and ours that he makes it

Glandular fever - mid 2021
Back stress fracture - mid 2021
Foot hot spot - early 2022
Back stress fracture - late 2022
Hamstring - mid 2023

Don't think I've missed anything, but it's not a great run...
Sounds about right, unfortunately. Glandular fever isn't something that you can re-injure though, and the rest seems to be symptoms of the same problem.

Hes better than what you could get with that free list spot

Also i believe he has many more years on a contract

Some talls have played barely any footy early like Mckay and come fairly good

Its hard to see him having a significant impact next year at the highest level
You're right, getting out of the contract is another thing to be gained.

Because Scott had him developing in the VFL rather than pushing him along early. Like we should have done with Reid :thumbsu:
Might also be because he had more experienced options in Tarrant and Thompson in front of him as well perhaps? Much easier to give a prolonged run in the reserves if you already have some quality in the ranks in the seniors in the spot that he would take. I disagree with your comment about the reason we played him being because "he is shiny and new". I think there was genuine need to get him going as we don't have the luxury of big key defenders.

The more Reid gets injured, the more picking up McKay seems like a good idea. He wold slot straight in right now if on our list and if fit.

This is the Reid thread though.

Reid has played 8 AFL games in 4 years
I fail to see how playing VFL games, or how many games he played before he played VFL are relevant to his AFL career - which if he stopped playing now would be 8 games…

you don’t see how playing footy is relevant to his career?

He was recruited to play AFL football - so yes how many AFL games of footy he plays is absolutely relevant to his AFL career.

What he has done in juniors, reserves or any other form of sport might be interesting discussion but when we recruited with pick 8 it wasn’t to play reserves footy for 4 years…

Good thing it's only 3 years then.

He is not going to be around his prime weight until he is 24/25.

As you say, the current system isn't a good one when in reality these ruckman height blokes shouldn't be expected to be seen much at AFL level for 3 - 5 years. It's rare to see a ruckman do it, now the KPP's are a similar height the expectations need to be adjusted (along with list sizes).

I see you know little about list management.

Gumby MK2

Will have his defenders till the day he's cut and will have a small group reflect on what might have been until the end of days.

But the body is seemingly cooked.

Starting to look a bit grim now isn’t it?
