Apologies read it wrong, he was rookie drafted at the end of 2012, debuted 2013.

My point is that not every player has the exact same story. For example, Laverde.

Reid is ruckman sized, so it's even more normal for him to take time as he physically matures.

You must think though, surely, that the constant injuries are a concern?

Harris Andrews is his closest comparison for mine - he came in at 18 and played 76 games in his first four seasons. That’s a bit earlier than most - and as you said not every player follows the same path - but I cannot understand anyone not having serious concerns over these injuries. It’s more than a ‘he’s only young and needs more time’ type of thing.

I don't think anyone has said it isn't a concern?

Laverde is a good example of a player at EFC who struggled for years with injury issues then managed to get on top of them and has since been pretty consistently on the park.

Reid having a pec injury is also completely unrelated to his previous issues - hamstring and back - and is just shit luck.

Ahhh Heck! I didn’t even think you could get injured in the VFL! That’s supposed to be the conservative approach!

It’s not fair. Taken down by a hecking pec.

I purposely resisted opening this thread after reading the title trying to think positively that maybe it was just a stinger or something superficial... I should not of opened the thread. 😭

Poor bugga. I just want him to have a good run for once and unleash that potential we all know he's got.

instead of having an esports team we should’ve invested in an MRI sports clinic at Tullamarine. We could’ve had some scans and answers by now
Peck awareness 👍

Laverde, drafted 2014.

Never played more than 10 games in a single season until 2021, and has rarely missed since then. (9, 9, 5, 7, 10, 6)

I guess we can hold out hope that Reid might be like a Laverde that between physical growth, being really really tall, and shit luck will take a bit longer but might still get there.
Yes. This is why I hoped Laverde might have a yarn with him this week. Rough start but all is not lost.

Why the does everything happen at the high end for this bloke.

I really feel for the lad, just let him have a corkie for once
Knowing his luck he'd have lingering pain after which scans would show a hairline fracture of the femur. To be honest he'd probably take that atm.

Scott Gumbleton 2.0

Was thinking the same today. I would have delisted Lav a few years back. At least Reid will get another solid pre season I guess.

Though Gumbleton couldn’t kick.

how would anyone know

any time Gumbleton looked at a footy he got injured, would never know if could kick or not.
