But at some point you have to determine if a professional is actually good at their job or not. The job being difficult is not really relevant. With enough of a body of work, which we definitely have with FJ, it is possible to analyse performance.
Of course, everyone will have differing views of what is acceptable and what isn't, which is a whole heap of other fun, but you can't remove the need for selected players to be good from a recruiter's performance assessment.
yeah, but players picked generally are pretty good at junior level. He wasn't the best recruiting officer, but unless he was employed to deliberately choose shit players to keep us bad, he wouldn't have purposely chosen someone who wasn't much chop at junior level.
It is possible to look really good at junior level but not make it at AFL
