But at some point you have to determine if a professional is actually good at their job or not. The job being difficult is not really relevant. With enough of a body of work, which we definitely have with FJ, it is possible to analyse performance.

Of course, everyone will have differing views of what is acceptable and what isn't, which is a whole heap of other fun, but you can't remove the need for selected players to be good from a recruiter's performance assessment.

yeah, but players picked generally are pretty good at junior level. He wasn't the best recruiting officer, but unless he was employed to deliberately choose shit players to keep us bad, he wouldn't have purposely chosen someone who wasn't much chop at junior level.

It is possible to look really good at junior level but not make it at AFL

Is it not the job of the recruiter to determine which is which? My point is that over time you can have a basis to work out if a recruiter is actually any good at doing that. Otherwise, you might as well just employ anyone to do it.

Why are we arguing over this? There is ample evidence that FJ is among, if not clearly THE worst recruiter in the league. Only really challenged by the idiot at Melbourne.

Indeed. Many more games and much better at afl level. Has him covered by a mile.

Corey Ellis is 20!!! Of course Fiora has played more games at AFL level. Christ almighty save me.

I will be disappointed if both CEllis and Castagna are not dropped for their efforts - for want of a better word - on Saturday.
Sends a very bad sign to the playing group if those games are tolerated.

I'd be surprised if they dropped Castagna. They might "rest" him though due to the fact we are travelling. Bolton might come in to visit his family.
I think CEllis will get dropped. I still see him a player of the future for us, but he wasn't good against the Cats.

I had to ask my mate if Castagna was playing at three quarter time on Saturday.
Admittedly I'd had about 16 Peroni's by that stage , on top of a big night before at the Irish pub in Geelong!

I've had a fair crack at corey for being soft the past few weeks only because i know he has potential to be a gun. Today was a definate step up on his attack on the man and the ball. So well done corey, still can lift another gear but its a great start. Also love seeing this kid in the centre square and playing his natural role as an inside mid had clean hands and won plenty of clearances. Well done corey we believe in you.

Lol he didn't even play. His VFL game was meh.

Early call, but this kid will be massive for us next season. It's all starting to come together for him, if he has a full pre-season he will be a regular in our best 22.
He and Callum Moore are my picks to be bolters next season.

Corey Ellis , Jack Graham , Callum Moore & Shai Bolton

I still can't see CEllis being best 22 next year. For starters who comes out and who comes onto our list.

Mmm good point. I think we will start to see Grigg transitioning out of the side next year.
