Watching Samson this year I see a lot of similarities with Tim English from early in his career. Very gangly, hadn't quite grown into his body and was being asked to carry the load as the number 1 ruck option. Difference is we're not throwing Ryan to the wolves with no help, he's been partnered by Nankervis or Miller. When conditions have been favourable he has shown some real promising signs taking some big pack marks around the ground and hitting the scoreboard when forward. Definitely one we can build around moving forward.
Agree - also could throw a younger gawn (he was a baby giraffe) and at worse, will be similiar to a sam draper type. Important thing he has the height, so his frame can always fill out, unlike nank, will never be undersized.

It’s an under strengthened and developed body issue atm. Fatigued badly after half time , but still competed. His tank needs at least two years work. ATM he’s a cryptocurrency investment and needs those years.
Hopefully hes a Bitcoin
Bitcoin is an investment
Cryptos (shitcoins) are a gamble and most likely a bust 😉

He seems to represent yet another great piece of recruitment outside the first 2 rounds of the draft. He looks a proper threat forward, and at the very least should be a decent second ruck. He seems a little lost in D50 for now but he should be able to learn that aspect of the game. He is well co-ordinated and a good ball handler below his knees.

We just need him to strengthen up, improve his endurance and learn a few finer points about forward, defensive and ruck craft.

Well said mate, been impressed with how competitive a ruckman he's shaping to become. He's a genuine giant at that height and has a really good leap on him - a leap we'd probably do well to try and preserve by using him as sparingly as possible in a rucking role for as long as possible.

He's got genuine natural talent for reading the ball in flight which is really exciting in a unit that size.

Given a decent run with injury he looks the ideal bridge to fill that KPF/Ruck role for the next half a decade and then develop into a formidable ruck in the 2nd half of his career.

Not the right thread for it but CCJ must be going absolutely spare at his manager. Can’t get a game for North and would almost certainly be playing for us right now

Think he’s had a few injuries, and has been named this week for North Melbourne.

But still, Xerri looks to be the better ruckman and Comben the better second forward.

May have dodged one.

Footballers aren't complete mindless sheep imbeciles. Was his decision. No one to blame but himself. Should be slitting his own wrists over not taking the 5 X $600k gold coast offered him. Will probably be playing amateurs once his North contract expires.

Pretty happy with this kids last couple of games. Looks the goods to hold down that second ruck position.
Unfortunately he is being set up to fail as such . Lynch comes back in and Ryan will be on the outer within 2-3 weeks.
Should be already playing a role that will compliment Lynch’s return , not Lynch’s role

Spiralling in an upward direction which is the positive. Dropped an easy mark again today which gave up a goal. If you’re over 200cm and you drop easy marks in neutral conditions then you're a liability. This is my concern with him and my only one.

Great signs and love his passion.

But pretty confused about how he fits in the team with a fully fit nankervis and fully fit Lynch?

I can’t see a forward line functioning well with a two 200cm+ Lynch/Ryan defensively.
Lynch and nankervis aren’t going anywhere anytime soon…

How does he fit in the next two years to develop his game?

I want to see him play with Lynch and without Jack before making the call

Could actually work quite well if they position well at different parts of the forward line
Due to both of them being monsters no way can oppo defenders peel off to cover the more dangerous player like we are saying atm with Lynch getting double of Tripple teamed at every contest when he’s playing

Enjoy the ride SR! :thumbsu::):thumbsu: One of the bright lights for the Tigers this year!
Been really fun watching him progress this year aye mate

Can even see the improvements from the start of the year until now just with general positioning and confidence

He plays alongside Lynch and Nank. If Jack has to miss to make that work, then so be it. Ryan needs games pumped into him to accelerate his development.

Nank & Lynch in

Soldo & Miller out

Nank 75% ruck
Samson 25% ruck
