Gee some people need to get a grip. What shred of evidence is there to support the claim Archer pressured the club into drafting his son. The Shinboner of The Century deserves more respect than that

Agree.

There are multiple examples of speculative draft selections taken each year, and if a short term risk is going to be taken on a father son like Crocker or Archer I have no issues like that. There might be one who may not be the most skilled or talented but may just turn out to be an elite stopper like a Dale Morris type.

I for one wish the kid all the best, regardless of how he got his chance.

Yep, good post mate. I don't have an issue in giving Crocker (who had his injury woes) and Archer who they hoped might be a late bloomer. Sure we want the club to be ruthless but there is room for a little bit of romance in footy, and our club is all about heart and soul.

instead of picking archer - we pick Dean and therefore don’t need to draft Dawson in msd.

Could have two key young planks for our defence of the future.
Charlie Dean hasn't played a game yet. Hasn't he been injured all season?

Coulda shoulda woulda - it has nothing to do with the selection of Archer.

If they wanted Dean, they would have called his name out.

This thread has become an abomination to the Archer name.

I expected them to pick him, wanted them to pick him and hope he grows into an AFL footballer.

If he gets his chance today - Good luck young Archer!!!

****ing shocker of a previous page folks, well done.

We gave a late pick to a member of the North family who might not make it.

Far out, imagine if he makes it. What a great NMFC story. And if he doesn't? Shit he'd be like 90% of kids who get drafted there. It's Archer FFS. Of course we give him a chance.

Name shouldn’t come into it - ability is what it’s about.

Hope this talk of him being a late in isn’t true - he’s miles off vfl level let alone afl

People will be sitting around campfires all over the world in years to come lamenting the mysterious Charlie Dean….

“Oh Charlie Dean, what might have been, you came from Willi, were never seen, by those people who called your name, despite the fact, it was all in vain…….who are you really, Charlie Dean?….”

His dad was the same story, he was told he was never gonna make it and clearly never had the skills to be an elite player but Archer‘s will to the contest and ability to compete was elite, and it compensated well for his shortcomings.

Wtf you talking about - Archer was very skilled off both feet

This thread is ****ed.

I’m not saying he will or won’t make it his nab games showed promise. He seems to be a lockdown type. Worth a punt.

I don’t think he’s strung enough performances to play seniors but some of these claims are dead set ******ed

I'm sure that if it was purely nepotism, Luffy would have leaked it by now.
Assuming there's a grain of truth to the rumour it may well be Luffy who was (is?) a roos fan who lent into it, rather than a directive from on high.

Regardless of all that crap though, if he makes his debut today I wish him the best! In fact, I wish him the best even if he doesn't debut today.

Not elite level.

Can kick off both feet and was decent at that, but you’re not being honest if you call him an all-round elite player.
In an era where it was more long kicks that keeping possession - Archie retained possession more often than not

I don’t disagree, I just go by the surrounding talent & what Archer admits himself saying he played above his weight class by sheer effort and contested possession.

Which arguably is more admirable than someone born with freak genetics and talent like Carey, he got the best out of himself more than anyone else did at league level, this is the same path young Jackson must take to make it, although the game is tougher now athletically.

I’m hearing whispers he will be making his debut today and there will be a late out!

My mail is Glenn is either on his way up or there already!

Can anyone confirm?

I can confirm Glenn is in Melbourne and not travelling to Darwin FWIW.

Question for the vfl watchers. How has his direct opponent gone vs him in terms of goals obvs he hasn't set the world on fire possession wise but first job as a defender is stopping his man.

Unbelievable. When I watched 300 VFL games last year it was clear to me we should have drafted Peter Dean who is killing it at Collingwood.

Didn't Glenn Archer leave last year well before the draft for that reason?
Must be cute living in such a naive world where you don’t think Archer still had influence. Didn’t he appoint the coach? Play with Rawlings?

Reality is there was no chance Archer was getting drafted by anyone else. Every bit of evidence in his first season confirms he is a long, long way off.
Keep the blind faith though Ferball. It’s admirable how commited you are to the cult of this shit administrator.
