... Our selection committe have made errors all year, in fact, they have made woeful calls ever since Scott was appointed coach. Patch getting games consistently early on, LT when he was at his psychotic worst, players getting games due to 'runs on the board', Spud getting game after game despite repeating the same momentum shifting howlers consistently.

They would want to improve their batting average, the club will only put up with mediocrity for so long before guys swing from the rafters.

wasn't this a criticism of Laidley's tenure? is the Match Committee the same blokes? has it changed? baring the obvious of a new coach.

or

is this always a gripe of supporters that think player A or B is being treated harshly and not getting a game?

Perhaps he didn't get a game in Geelong seniors because he wasnt on Geelong's list. He was a VFL player.
Shows you how much interest I have got at Geelong lol. I'll give you a good one then, what about Heath Grundy. A guy who struggled to get a game for about 3 or 4 years then all of a sudden hasnt been out of the side since.

Fair dinkum I just cannot understand them even giving him a go, what have they got to lose?

I think that's what they call a player developing. Not many KPP come straight in from the draft and hit the ground running. They could be susceptible to the 'Zac Dawson effect'

Well I was told several months ago and mentioned it on here that Levi was put forward to come into the side and BS blocked his inclusion as Levi doesn't fit the type of player BS wants at the club.

Being overseas I haven't had a chance to see AK in action. Do Werribee watchers think he would be a sure thing to be picked up by another club if we let him go? Or is a rookie spot on our list a possibility?

I didn't say that.

I didn't say you did! Your post has merit, but i'm not getting into an AK debate.

Again, I don't watch him nor have little interest in VFL players until they play for North Melbourne. So my post was based on what I suspect is the case regarding his non selection taking into account various viewpoints, nothing more.

I doubt he will get picked up. Not sure why but just can't see it happening.

Cheers for that. I am sort of hoping this would be the case and we at least have the chance to re-sign him. Just don't like the idea of letting go a guy who sounds like that rare species called a 'footballer'. Even a rookie spot would do me.

Confusing thing is still - as others have pointed out - why invest 4 years in him for nought?

You'd take as given that his ability and attitude were at a minimum level to be on our list. So beyond that, why the blackballing?

It's the most annoying thing.

He clearly has AFL qualities. Maybe he can make it, maybe not. But without even trying him at the top level the last 4 years amount to nothing more than a colossal waste of time, resources and potential talent that we sorely need.

That I cannot answer. The mere fact the club refuses to give solid info on players is disappointing. The player reports on VFL (when I bother to read them) are usually overly complimentary, and frankly poor as they create more questions than answers.

If I were to guess on your questions though, i'd say that he lost the year or two due to the unexpected injury, and due to that he went back in pecking order. Club gave him more time than usual based on the injury to show his worth....but subsequently has not done enough to make it. Hence four years is only two or so in real terms.

And again, just at a guess.

I'm generally one that leans towards supporting the decisions the club makes, even if I do not agree with them. But, when we have the talent on the list that we do and we are not performing I begin to look for answers why, players take some of that heat but the coaches and people who pick the sides also are not absolved of blame.

I had doubts we would make the finals once our draw was announced, I had doubts we would be as competitive against the good sides as we have been, so where we are is not really surprising to me and our competitiveness in general is something I am happy about.

However, the manner in which we have bombed out and some of the teams we have lost to and in the manner we have makes me start to evaluate everything at the club. If our administration isn't of a like mind then we will never win a flag. This business is ruthless, if we are not then we are not even in the race.

If we have good talent that we are not utilising and risk losing just to ensure guys who have been around for some time get guaranteed games then heads should roll.

A very similar situation happened at St Kilda a couple of years ago with Tommy Walsh

Looked like a star in the reserves and lots of Saints supporters were upset that Walsh wasn't getting a game over an underperforming Jason Blake. He of course left at the end of the year to Sydney for more opportunity (much to the disappointment of Saints supporters) and we know how that turned out.

It goes to show that these are professional AFL coaches and they know what they are doing, it's easy enough to go to Werribee games and see him perform well. But these are guys who see him at training every day, and who give him set targets to achieve during reserves games. From the outside it may look like he deserves to get a game, but on the inside it could look completely different.

I'd back this as more likely being similar to a Tommy Walsh situation, then Brad Scott having a hidden agenda.

Gets a wrap from the club website: http://www.nmfc.com.au/news/2013-09-09/kennedy-guides-tigers

Not so subtle attempt at increasing trade potential.

I see it but I don't believe it. Positivity from Lamont:

“He was really steady back there and had a really good game," Kangaroos’ development coach John Lamont said.

“They (the Scorpions) were trying to drag him back and limit his run and influence, but he did his job back there and he did it really well.”

Kennedy was good on the finals last year too. I really hope that everyone is wrong and we keep him on the list

I watched some of the game yesterday and was wondering why AK doesnt get a game. I will admit though I havent seen a lot of Werribe games so cant really comment on his year. (and I havent read all of this post either)
Is he going to be one of these players thats stars in the VFL but cant produce on the big stage? There were a lot of those guys playing out there yesterday that have had chances but didnt go anywhere - funnily a lot of them named Ben - McKinley, Warren, Speight, Ross
