He just doesn’t love living in Melbourne. If he goes, it’s devastating but not embarrassing. Not as though we’re haemorrhaging players. I think LJ was the first one since Chip, and once we realised we would get pick 3 we essentially told him to go.

His re 1 game pushed his value up by about 200k alone I reckon

Love your strawman arguments.

1. Nowhere have I written Butters off. In fact I really like him as a player.

2. Butters has shown glimpses in previous seasons without becoming a bonafide gun. I expected him to take that step this year but so far he's actually regressed slightly. He still has time of course.

3. Comparing Butters to someone like Trac just cos they've not had huge starts is ridiculous cos Trac's body of work in the past ~ 3 seasons is a faiir bit better than Butters.

Not to jump at shadows but should Pickett leave, Nick Watson is the obvious guy that I'd imagine the dees would nab at the draft. A 169cm gritty small forward with all the traits to be elite in the afl. 34 touches, and 2.3 on the weekend. He could be top 4-10 in the draft.

Sam McClure also was asking Goodwin quite leadingly about the Pickett contract on radio last night. Insinuated that it was close to happening without outright saying it. Goodwin straight-batted it though.
